Nathan Chen

I think Nathan does tend to take on more than he can handle but eventually learns from his mistakes. Remember that all these shows, endorsements, and Yale are still new to him so he doesn't quite know what he can or can't handle at this point. It's inevitable that he'll overdo things so he'll know just how far he can push in the future.

Hate the 30 second reduction, such a waste of Nathan's super stemina:(

I wonder if the deduction is simply saved advertisement or also for the sake of older skater in their mid 20s...but yes, what a disappointing change for the precious seconds to show artistry (wasn’t that the complaint?) and for athletes who have trained with better stamina. Living-in-the-past committee.

heyheyhey thanks for a few good pointers, I think the concern derived from him pushing himself too hard at times & May he find a better balance going into next season. Can’t plan for flu etc and example like Shoma, his injury probably wasn’t due to poor team management but can’t imagine what could’ve happened if he didn’t grind it through for his country.

Yes I agree, there’s some things he will have to experience before he knows for sure but based on past experiences, he indicates to me that he would take a step back if he needs to so I guess that’s why I’m not concerned. I always talk about his level of body awareness, I liken him to Kwan where they knew and listened to their bodies well and what they can handle at a given time rather than say a Hanyu that will go to extremes with his health that border on reckless/dangerous albeit courageous. I think he pays close attention to what his body tells him and has taken all the tools/tips given to him during his rehab in 2016 about maintaining his health to heart.

I’m only referring to post 2016 Nathan though, not anything before.

Supposedly the time reduction is to reduce overall length of the free skate.

Even greater stamina may be required to fit everything into the shorter length program - all elements except the one eliminated jump pass. I think Nathan’s super stamina would still be an advantage.

Going from Nathan’s history, at times he has had to crash out in order to really learn. I guess the best lessons are often the hardest lessons.

Nathan’s hair - the sides look cleaner to me and the top looks shorter

I’m probably not focusing on the important thing here - sorry:)

Check out the Figure Skating in Harlem instastory 😍

The tie (NC collection) looks good (in the released pics... so far) LoL
