Nathan Chen

wow i feel like the age skews kind of higher in JP

Hahaha a lot of us aunties over in Japan.:yahoo:

In case the Google thing is pushing through, there could be a rated FG section (for fangirls), since it'll be outside this site. Just label, so people can enter (or not) by choice.

@nathanchengifs on twitter made a NEW gif for nathan

actually, the entry to this thingy (whatever it is) is a lutz jump. after he lutz tapped ice, he connected a flying fan kick spin entry thingy then landed as an one rev jump, Nathan does this alot to his self choreoed EXs, mix-match all kinds moves he learned randomly. :luv17:

as for my fav of Nathan's Veras
it was and always is the "brush stroke" that Nathan wore for National FS and OG team Sp (the one withOut the zipper in the back is the better one for me). Although I knew it is a rip-off of some other costumes.
Nathan loved the long sleeve that covers half of his hands design (according to fan interview),but must felt uncomfortable during action, thus changed it to thermal underwear type of costumes: Vanilla Vera and the little white collar.
i think Nathan must have loved this type of gloves from 2018 OG, he was wearing them a lot during the games. Could be another item in the gift list.

thermal underwear ... haha

The brush stroke costume - or to use Vera speak - uniform - was the least popular in the poll

little white collar the cutest (thermal underwear sleeves and all), but I think Nathan looks the most 🔥in Vanilla Vera uniform

latest gif from cozy0505 - Nathan wearing white collar shirt with rolled-up sleeves 😍

^^ Yes, I kr the "brush stroke" and "Last Dancer" are both the least popular in the poll, but I love them nonetheless:biggrin:
the "thermal underwear" (秋衣) is a self-deprecating but endearing name Chinese fans used to refer ot one type of costumes for male skater that made popular by Patrick during his late careers. which is simple, no frills, just like a thermal underwear. And Nathan's Vera uniforms (especially, Vanilla Vera and little White Collar) are this type of costumes.

marina's OLD interview about Nathan, I don't think i have watched it before carefully.
but soooo lovely.

Marina's comments about Nathan is so much shared not only among Nathan's fans but also figure skating community. Remember, Kurt Browning's comment about Nathan!

minimalist, thermal underwear/秋衣 uniforms :)

I think the brush stroke looked fine - but Nathan didn't look very comfortable wearing it ?

Seems that Nathan likes black, no frills, no sequins, no crystals/sparkles - wonder what he will be wearing this season? I'm betting on more off the rack, at least in the beginning of the season

As for the Japanese FC poll - Nathan's Japanese fans certainly seem older (mostly 40's and 50's), and interesting that if Nathan wasn't their favorite skater, Takahashi was the favorite of most. From the Dance and Lines in Figure Skating thread - someone posted that in terms of dance and styles of movement, they feel like 'Daisuke is on one end of a spectrum and Nathan on the other in this conversation with Patrick somewhere in the middle ...'

Ballet and classical got the most votes for future Nathan program - though jazz got a lot of votes too. I'd be kinda surprised to see another ballet program next season though ?

And Tarasova got 3rd most votes for choreographer?

thanks sheetz for sharing and translating :)

Daisuke is my favorite male skater other than Nathan. I have something in common with Japanese fans. I can see the connection even if I never really thought much about it.

I think he'll wear black pants and...something. That's a pretty safe bet I would guess. :p

and heyheyhey, google is good! I think someone can ask for permission to edit as well so you don't have to add people.

Please no Tarasova. PLEASE. Stay away Nathan. Do not let her do to you what she did to Mao lol. I’m surprised the Japanese would even vote for Tarasova knowing how bad she was for Mao. Her worst programs and worst performances (at her peak) were under Tarasova [emoji51]

Very nice comments from Marina 💞

aww - 'I love him - that's my heart, that's my heart ... I just love him'

'He's so talented for everything, not just jumps ... he relates to music very well and he has character, personality very strong'

'When I started to work, it was so easy - because he did ballet - studied in a ballet school in Salt Lake City and also very musical, that's why it works so well'

How much fun are you having with Nathan Chen?

'I so much miss him and he's not there ... he's young and very, very energetic - and he has a great personality, a unique personality'

Does he remind you of anyone?

'No ... unique, unique boy. It's like a diamond - a United States diamond - that's what Nathan is'

lol at this comment though: 'Was this a free danced mixed zone or a nathan chen mixed zone :\'

I kinda agree with the discussion in the dance and lines thread.

I like Dai as well, I think Dai has an natural extrovert flare to him but Nathan does not exhibited yet. Nathan is little closer to Patrick than Dai in the spectrum. that is why I think do a Tango like Dai's flare will be very interesting for Nathan. I could NOT imagine what will it be.

Also Dai has some of the best posture in male skaters, I sometime hoped that Nathan could watch some of Dai's videos to learn. In this regards, Shoma is closer to Dai.
Shoma's style is much more closer to Dai than Nathan.

Maybe because Tarasova made some masterpieces at long years ago... I love her past works, but now a day- she is looks like old fashion to me.

Where is Tarasova located - is she in Russia?

If so - I can't imagine Nathan traveling to Russia to get choreo
