Nathan Chen

I need to watch these programs! Does Marin have ballet background as well?

From the Dance and Lines thread - no one named any other current skaters with have seriously studied ballet

I don't think so,

Marin's Port de Bras does NOT seems she had ballet training

you can watch Sring Sonata first then Smile, both by Marina, those lyrical sweet princessy choreo perfectly suited for Marin Honda,
he also choreoed the waiting for Marin for the OG, going for just a touch more maturity still the lyrical style Marin is best at.

And Marin scratched out his previous tango SP choreoed by J-butt, because she cannot handle the Tango yet..

thanks for the info!

I really like Marin's skating style from what I've seen so far. Hope she can keep those qualities after moving to Raf - just with improved jumps. I did like her Beetlejuice program that I saw before.

I think Tango is quite overused in figure skating, but that's all I want to say about that.

yeah, I just watched Spring Sonata. I would have to say she doesn't look balletic (though I'm guessing she has taken ballet, perhaps not very extensively) - but I still really like her movement quality.

yes, Beetlejuice is my fav program from Marin! #Soulmates

her movement is lyrical and smooth, with good flow on ice too.

but her latest ice show outing seems her SS is not as good as my previous impression of hers ? IDK

You know, lots of Yuna fans like Marin. think there are some similarities between these too. IMHO, I think there are some in certain aspects but not really.
I saw more Yuna's spirit in Wakababy, although apparently, they look quite different body-type wise.

I'm not sure - I haven't watched Marin's skate in recent ice shows ... but hopefully her SS won't diminish with her new move

yeah - like Karen being compared to Yuna too? That's what I was thinking - that their body-types are quite different

I like Wakaba a lot !

Bringing it back to Nathan though :) - wondering if he will be doing another ballet program this season ... I'm kinda thinking he won't ?

Can't edit. View only with an option to request access to edit.

Ok, that’s what I thought. I put the link share on to view for everyone but I have to add people in order for them to edit. Would you like me to add you to have access to editing? If so, send the request. That goes for anyone else who wants access to edit here, I’ll just add you in. Just let me know you sent the request.

just watched Marin's 3 short in a row, I must say although I loved Marin's spring sonata alot when I watched, but it is indeed a bit junior compare to her smile and the waiting program

hahaha, every promising female skaters have been hoped by Yuna fans to become the next one:biggrin:

one last bit about Marin, not Nathan related is that, i REALLY love her SS, this is the type of lady's figure skating that I love (sorry, Alina, but you are very cute:biggrin:), hope Nathan can have that kinda SS in the future.

I saw this hashtag in the Boyang FF - nothing at all negative implied here, I personally find his personality quite endearing and fun - and I’m not exactly sure about his pet crocodile and lizards - but they sound cute and interesting

#prayforgoodchoreo2018

Nathan being secretive and all - we will be waiting forever until we know anything about his programs

Test run, can you guys see and click on the links in this document?

works for me! 2 youtube links right.

I am quite intrigued how Nathen will top last year's choices.
Is he still with Lori this season? He seems rather erudite in his approach compare to skaters of his generation. Wonder now he got all the quads out of his system, perhaps he can take on a more latter day Patrick Chan approach, working on what is important to him about figure skating. Details, Form, Development, Refinement, Aestheticism.

Yup!
Gonna compile all the stuff from this FF, YouTube, and other video outlets from the past starting tonight. Just gotta settle on how to organize on the document. Once the video archive is done, I’ll probably eventually do one for his print article/interviews. People can add in anything I’m missing once I put the final link up (or whenever for those who have access to editing).

great word choice - erudite :)

We don't know yet if he will have another Lori program this season

Super excited to see his programs for this coming season - whatever they may be

Nice project... wonder if there's a Google Bookmarks share thing, may make it easier for you

Thanks a lot❣️

hmmm... This season, i saw many competitions in person both Nathan and Patrick but i never felt so. So it is interesting Kurt mention that.
I think it just hat one particular tour to lounge move, doesn’t mean Kurt thinks Nathan has a similar skating style to Patrick. When he was asked if Nathan reminded him of anyone at Jr worlds, I always thought the female commentator who asked that was trying to get him to say Patrick, as they are both of Chinese descent and share the same last name and it was a Canadian broadcast, and it always gave me a chuckle listening to both Kurt and Carol Lane answering, no, not really, he’s unique. :)

Well, they both trained with Marina ... and have the same last name - 陈, though Patrick's parents are from Hong Kong so they would use 陳

And yes Nathan is very unique!

And hoping for unique programs from him this season and in the future ... still (not so secretly) hoping for Grohg Vampire program (really unexplored music from Aaron Copland) . Here is the link to the score if needed :)

But if he's going to do a program to favorite classical composer Mozart sometime, which piece?

I like Symphony no.25:

Or Piano Concerto no.20:
