Nathan Chen

Shipping comments in general don’t have much reservations, before or after SOI, with fans who like certain Japanese, Russian or whoever lady skaters to ship with him, ie - a friendly hand slap can be view as something more.

I would love to see a CAN & US SOI 🤗 please IMG.

Shippers should probably also take into account the age of the skaters. Like shipping a 15/16 year old Alina with 19 year old Nathan is probably not the best choice unless you want Chris Hansen showing up on Nathan’s doorstep. People gotta be a little more responsible about that.

The comments on his IG are pretty uncomfortable so I usually just don’t bother looking anymore. Like stop calling him “daddy”, so creepy [emoji51]

Probably most of these shipping comments are made by young fans - some are as young as 11. Many seem to be quite clueless.

I have seen some rather creepy comments on his posts - BDSM references using skates, etc

Not trying to be super judge mental though, just that if it’s uncomfortable to us, I can only imagine for him. There should be a level of respect there when you know he can see that, save that for your private accounts. It’s not hard

nathan isn't typical model ht but i think that makes all of us admire him more.
esp his jawline too even tho it's fire
and i was trying to say that with his glasses as a nerdy asian he's still really good to look at not to mention his bod

i hope this isn't against t/c on this site

colton - I think your comments are fine :)

from SOI thread:
'I went to SJ's Stars On Ice to watch my fav. skaters. Karen Chen, Nathan Chen, Adam Rippon, Jason Brown, and Vincent Zhou.
Adam Rippon's "Let Me Think About It," Jason Brown's "Can't Stop the Feeling," and Vincent Zhou's "Take On Me" were the best. I couldn't believe what a great opening Vincent Zhou did for "Take On Me." He gets better and better every time he goes on ice.
I love "Never Enough" that Karen Chen chose for her first performance. What a great song.
I met the 2Chenz. I was sooooooooo glad to finally meet Nathan Chen. Such a nice guy.'

aww. And I will say that this poster's three favorite programs probably were the ones that got the most applause/cheers.

Sorry maybe I shouldn’t have said anything - and I may not be remembering correctly about Vincent (though seriously his cantilever was very well received) - but I am certain about Adam and Jason.

Nathan’s programs were well received at the San Jose show regardless - and he was obviously my favorite 😍

We were talking about the shipping comments on the SOI IG post with the skaters (including Nathan/Karen) wishing the Canada SOI cast good luck at their Vancouver show

it's so funny i'm watching vincent and karen's chinese interviews and they're grasping for the words in mandarin and can't so replace them with english
at least nathan doesn't have to go through that

2chenz really would be so cute although i'm sure i know many of nathan's female fans wish he stayed single lol

Confused, so Nathan's programs were not that well received in SJ like in any other city? She didn't like any of Nathan's program but so glad to meet him???????

I read someone's IG post several days ago that Both Nathan and Alex's posters were running out, it must be Anaheim then.

Couldn't keep up with this FF anymore after coming back from a meeting. You guys are so fast. What comments and shipping you were talking about? Where did you come across those????

ETA: that poor Japanese fan. I hope she feels much better afterwards and enjoyed her experiences. It seems she just posted lots of M&G pictures.
Thanks @sheetz for the translation. Don't want to see the poor fan being misunderstood due to language thing

No, it’s not that Nathan’s programs weren’t well received or that this person didn’t like them, they’re saying that those 3 programs got the loudest cheers by the San Jose audience. Has nothing to do with Nathan’s performance. Some cities Nathan gets the loudest reception, other cities it’s other skaters, depends on the audience and city.

oatmella, don't worry. I know Adam and Jason's programs are very well received. I am kinda confused Nathan being the poster's favorite and how nice he is but none of program mentioned in that review. As I said before, I have no problem non fans don't like his programs.

Maybe it is his good looks which attract some people. I am perfectly fine with that if that is the case:biggrin: He is such a good looking guy, with or without glasses, with or without curls, nerd or not! :yes2:

Lu Chen is sometimes the invited commentator in Chinese figure skating broadcast
Also the Chen fam, Patrick, Nathan, Karen is very well known among Chinese figure skating community (not just among fans), although the big sister is Tiffany Chin not Lu Chen, but Lulu probably considered herself as one member of the Chen fam.

out little Nate:o::o::o:

I consider her a part of the Chen family. But I guess in China they think of Nathan, Patrick, Karen, and Tiffany as the North American Chen family.

Yes, on her Weibo account after watching the last group. IIRC, she praised him for the wonderful performances, and very happy that there is another world Champion in the Chen family.

Oh so cute! I hope they can meet someday.

Patrick is ChAn not ChEn.

In Chinese it’s the same surname - 陈(simplified character used in China), 陳 (traditional character used in Taiwan/Hong Kong)

Patrick’s family is from Hong Kong which uses the Chan spelling

Nathan’s family is from China and Karen’s family is from Taiwan and they both use the Chen spelling

In written Chinese it's the same family name/character, even if it's pronounced/spelled differently in different dialects. That's why Chinese fans joke about them all being the North American Chen siblings. I guess Lulu ironically is not included in the "family" because she's actually from China

I believe Tiffany Chin's parents are Toisanese (a region in the Guangdong/Canton province) and they have their own slightly different dialect from regular Cantonese, hence the spelling.

I also learned the Tran of Mervin Tran's last name is also the same Chinese character as Chen! Maybe he should be included in the family as well :D
