Forgot to post this morning, continuing from last -
This is when I asked whether he will entertain the idea of finding a new coach if long distance becomes an issue. He looked confused for a second so I noted the reporters are “concern” with his training especially giving the distance and he smirked (Gold!) and seemed amused. I added, with Yale being on the east coast there are opinions of a new coach on the horizon, perhaps later? He had the “are you serious” look (wish someone captured the moment) and I said, well, there are many interviews floating around and you know (get my brainwave dude!) … He did. His tone became professional when he responded, in short, yes he is going to Yale and they’re working on his training plans, (of what) outsiders believe Raf and he are close and respect one another, most importantly, Raf will be his coach until the end of his professional career. I won’t share more as the career remark said it all. We said something goofy at the end, were glad the lighthearted mood returnedand asked him about training at the new OC rinks
, sure he replied, he’ll let the team decide and looks forward to train with the other guys.
Just curious, can any of the 2 choreographers be a complete surprise, that no one in this FF has guessed before?
Thank you for your investigative yet fun lively report, and I really appreciate your decision not to start anything. Just let the speculation go wild, which we might expect 100 pages. Frida80 would happily track the progress
It is a very thoughtful gift idea and I am glad he liked it too. Seemed like he enjoyed conversations with you and your friends.
Really wish someone captured his reactions about the coach questions and his reaction to the Japanese fan.
And I don’t want Buttle and Lori either, let them be busy with other skaters.
I like the way how the Japanese lady said it and he was respectably agreeing, what a grounded guy. If Nathan truly wants to have this be the year to explore his artistic potential, he needs choreographers who can challenge him to step it up next season.
But really Nathan made clear his feelings on Raf a million times already and his intentions of working with him for the next couple years. It’s been a source of endless debate but really on the part of fans and their wish for him, Nathan himself has been quite clear lol. It’s people choice whether they want to believe him or not but it’s never been anything he’s been subtle about so /shrugs
His coach reaction was a gradual change, from what’s a big deal to are you serious, haha but we sensed the bonding in their relationship from the things he said, the most serious part of the chat... we just told him to tell Raf not to squeeze him so tight, go with the knee pump
I'm going to tell you right now not to count out Benji Schwimmer or even Travis Wall.
He didn’t say he will retire and I think it’s an unknown to anyone, be it any skater/coach for the first year in college, I trust they will figure it out one step at a time.

Travis has worked with training mate Rippon, and also sat behind Nathan a few weeks back in the audience of DWTS.
