Nathan Chen

I really love both programs already. I like the short program way more than I expected to, Shae really did a great job with the movements and Nathan looks like he's having a lot of fun performing it. He's needed a program like that. I absolutely love the long. I can't wait to see him grow into it more.

Mamamiia - thanks so much for sharing, and love the close-ups of Nathan

Nathan looks so cute performing his short program - he's bringing the performance quality! And his expressions :luv17:

Mamamiia, thank you so much for the videos 😍

Still have not yet seen new SP, leaving it till evening coffee.
I absolutely like LP music, and his deep blue shirt suited music and lights😍😍

good morning :)

Nathan just posted a picture overlooking the rink from his room(?). Sun valley is a little bit too sunny for me lol. Is he leaving today?

I posted a few more videos on Eyes on Nathan YT account but kept program videos private. I am really not sure what are allowed to share...

Come back in the winter when it’s not. ;)

This is quite a challenging program with possibly 5 different quads, 6 quads total - and everything else :)

Some of the music sounds futuristic - and a bit sinister.

Mamamiia huge thanks to you!!
The programs are incredible! The SP is so so bright, colourful, energetic, funny and Nathan is incredibly happy performing it! He shines like a sun :luv17: I love how he works with his hands!
The LP - the choreo sequence O M G, he makes so many movements in a nanosecond  A bit disappointed they didn't make the steps into lutz like they did in the SP.
Both programs are so strong and full of energy, such a gift to us all. I'm speechless, this is the thing of beauty.

Thanks everyone for watching the videos and providing the feedback on his debut!

As for camera work, it''s too hard for me to resist the temptation of looking away from the camera and catching him with my own eyes, and every time I do this the video becomes shacky, tilted or out of zone, but I wouldn't blame myself lol. I also tried to keep it at wide angel and just hold the camera without looking, but every time he skates to the far side, I couldn't help zooming in for a closer look. It's such a struggling process that I enjoy.

The quality from your camera is way superior than my iPhone videos, they’re crisp and zooming in depth aren’t fuzzy at times. Love his facial expression in the SP, he even included in his rehearsal aww

Yes the facial expressions at outdoor rink practice too, with that smile right in front of me:luv17:

Note to whoever interested, learnt from my SOI recording experience, I think if you don't use auto setting but manually set ISO/aperture/shutter speed, then set the focus to continuous auto-focus, the results would be much better even recording with an iphone. My SOI videos came out mostly over exposed because I was using auto exposure settings, the camera calculates average light so anything under spot light was over exposed when it's not zoomed in.

a few quick immature tips:
- aperture: use the largest aperture your camera/phone/lens allows (the smallest number)
- shutter speed: 1/(2xfps) or the closest, just realized my shutter speed was too fast, for 60 frames per second, my shutter speed should be 1/125
- ISO: once above determined, find the ISO # that gives the best result and set manually.

I forgot my backup batteries last night otherwise I would do more testing and record a lot more skaters.

Has Land of All been confirmed as the FS? It seems a tad short? Isn’t the FS still 4 minutes for this season (from 4 minutes 30 sec)?

Mamamiia, i don’t know how you managed not to stare at Nathan when he is skating in front of you. The videos are so good.

Some stunning pictures from this IG account. Very nice write up about Nathan.

Also those Nathan teen/tweenages fans seem really love him.

As to the Land of All, one of the hash tags from Sam’s first clip post says “work in progress”, so I assume it still needs some work/ refinements probably?
