Nathan Chen

Was that a 3F at the beginning? They initially had it as a 4F but his TES went down a lot so I think they changed it.

That 4F in the beginning looked so effortless and easy, I honestly didn't recognise it as a quad, up until I saw the tech box, and then I couldn't believe it! Like what, did I just miss a quad flip?

Nathan: It's an honour first of all to be up here with these two guys. I'm pretty happy with my performance in the FS, more than in the SP
I mixed things up in the programme in terms of tech elements but I'm happy with how things went, l'm looking forward to keep developing this program technically

On frequent layout changes: I know the rules really well, I know how to manage my PPC to make sure I get right combos, avoid repeating jumps, etc. I have basic layout & plans A, B, C in case I miss a jump. I go in with a plan but it may change day, week, month of.

'... a great honour to watch him from afar. It's disappointing if he won't be at the Grand Prix Final. I really look forward to competing against him at some point this year further along.'

I'm extremely happy for Nathan. It was really obvious that he'd win with the FS

Congrats on your well deserved gold medal Nathan! :hap36:

I was pretty low all of yesterday after Nathan's SP. after hearing about his boots I was really concerned. Then last night I woke up around 3AM EST. I felt this odd hot burning sensation. One the same feelings I got a few times last season. Before Mirai's Team Event FS or Nathan's FS at the Olympics. I decided that meant that I should stop worrying and trust in Nathan. After all, he's has bad boots and now has the experience to come from behind.

Turns out I was right. Nathan handled it like he has in the past. He tested out which jumps weren't working and omitted them and changed his layout accordingly. He smartly took out the 4Lz, since in 2017 Worlds his weak boots broke on the take off of his first 4Lz. But his 3Lz were still fine, which is a really good sign he'll put the quad back in as soon as he breaks in a new pair of boots.

Such a nice way to start the day. Our little Nate did such a great job! I'm so proud of him!

Congrats Nathan, two for two, you deserved your Gold Medals and I’m happy to see you at the GPFinal.

Always amazing to watch you skate, see the energy and joy you bring to your competitions.

Major well done!

Whew, I can breathe again....until the next competition lol. Congrats Nathan! :) Glad he shared the podium with Jason too - my two faves!

Congrats Nathan! So happy to see him thriving on both fronts. It takes tremendous amount of self deciplin and talent. What a role model.
