Nathan Chen

I am just asking here before going to other threads;). Are there going to be open practices for nationals? If yes how can I watch? Couldn't find the schedule and dont know if I need to buy tickets for that.

Hope you get to watch the practices, really love your videos!

Seedings are determined by placements at Worlds, not by rankings. So by winning Worlds Nathan was top seed. Uno was 2nd and Kolyada third. Hanyu was unseeded because he did not compete at Worlds. If Nathan, Shoma, and Yuzu are all in the top 3 at Worlds they can't meet until the Finals.

Adding to Sheetz's explanation: Worlds top three are seated in GP and they will not face each other. Last season's Worlds gold medalist gets to pick any two of the six GP stops first, the silver medalist then may pick any two of the remaining four stops, and the bronze medalist gets the last two stops. All other GP skaters will be invited by the GP hosts.

Well, not any. Host picks come first. Like, even if Nathan had asked for NHK this past year, Japan fed could pick Shoma first and then Nathan couldn't go there. Or if V/M had asked for France after they won Worlds 2017, that obviously wasn't going to happen.

Thanks. That completes the picture of how the seeded are assigned.

:eeking: He's so good at a lot of things. I mean, he goes to Yale, casually won the gpf and both his gp assignments earlier this year, and he can play Chopin on piano. Wow. Meanwhile I can barely tie my shoes. Also, good luck at nationals!!!

His left hand is playing the right hand part of Moonlight Sonata.

One more week of Winter break for Nathan!
