Nathan Chen

I for one miss the grey vest, bad fit and all. It suited the song perfectly :scard8:

I also hope Nathan can fuse today's clean jumps (clean up that 3a though) with the wild abandon and joy of the sp at SKAM for Worlds. I am dying for this kid to break 100+ internationally already :hap10: ps, go to 4CC you bum!

I was happy to see Nathan do so well, and I see a new maturity in his skating as he has grown into his fuller frame. I’ve been following him for years, and his skating has always seemed to skitter a bit across the ice-almost like he was too light, and couldn’t really get into the ice. I don’t know if it’s because he has his adult weight now, or if it’s because his technique has improved, but now it feels like he is carving into the ice a lot more.

I also like the fit of his new costumes much more, but I wish it wasn’t so similar to his Vera costumes last year. Couldn’t they have added a splash of color, or used the gray of his original vest? That way you can see easier how his look has evolved-this doesn’t look like an evolution, it’s a completely different costume idea.

I agree. And I think maybe his posture was better, too? Speed as well.

In case anyone didn't watch there's an interesting part (5:25) where Nathan discusses Yale and how he is so grateful to them for allowing him use of the rink and their athletic facilities. You can really hear how much he appreciates their support. It's no wonder he chose to study there.

Do you think the orange is inspired by the Utah Jazz colours...?
Like they decided that the costume was gonna have one bold/bright colour on it, that isn't black/white/grey/blue, and Nathan chose this one? ;)
What a sneaky way of showing support to your favourite team.

And wearing that Jazz jersey yesterday in the athlete's lounge was Nathan foreshadowing his FS costume...

I feel these are just leftovers from last year that didn't make the cut. I don't mind them. Fit wise they look great on him.

I don't mind the FS one. The sleek, graphic look suits that program at least. I still see penguin for the SP.

Possibly among the 30 designs from last year?

Wang achieved her goal through a palette of black, gray, and white, starting with 30 designs and working with Chen to edit them down. “These are not show costumes, but sleek, modern interpretations of athleticism.”
