Nathan Chen

It was good. He was pretty obviously tired, got a level 3 steps and stepped out of the 2nd 3A. Random flawless 4S out of nowhere. Won the FS with way watered down content.

And he's popping some kind of candy/cough drop like crazy.

4S https://twitter.com/nathanchengifs/status/1116676371520999424

https://twitter.com/nikkansports/status/1116672080588656641 magical floofy hair. the floofiest!

Nathan's 4S is a textbook one-foot takeoff technique (timing has to be right), a beauty, unlike most others' two-foot takeoff technique.

It took a few tries but Nathan finally nailed the team event. Thanks to his strong performances, Team USA has a nice cushion for 1st.

I'm so proud of Nathan. He's really risen to the challenge of being practically coachless and still improved his skating over the season. Nailing his 4S finally was such a fitting close to the season. I'm sure he'll work on the jump until it's consistent as the rest of his quads. Next year it looks like five quad Nathan is back. With two 3As as well. I wonder if he'll bring back his 4Lz and 4F for his SP as well.

After all the traveling, the shows, the appearances, and now an illness he still manages to win handily with out a coach. Bravo Nathan.

He's insane.
He's had no rest since Worlds, he's been travelling and studying all the time, probably barely got any training done in those two weeks, has a cold, jetlag (which two of his main rivals are not struggling with), changed his FS jump layout almost completely, successfully did a quad that he hasn't done all season long in competition... and he was still (almost :p) clean and won the competition... what is wrong with this kid??
(also, please don't jump with a lozenge in your mouth Nathan, you don't wanna risk choking on it :drama:)

ETA:

yes

he is making the rest of the world looks really bad!:palmf: including us non athletes. Sometimes you have to doubt the fairness of humanity when some genius like Nathan comes along. Still love him!

Congrats, Nathan! :hap10::hap10: I was watching and mum was glancing at the screen a bit and she said he looked "quite dead on his feet" and I told her he was probably just exhausted. So he was ill on top of things as well? Mind-boggling. Hasn't he been ill/fatigued all season long? If this is how he performs while ailing, I can't fathom how he's going to look like when his body and constitution have fully adjusted to this setup!:love:

I literally thought the same thing when I first saw that part of his ChSq  I was like "Damn, those curls are really working their magic today"

Think mentions he's not feeling well and the axel streak being broken. gotta start over next season.

Please no, 3A don't be gone!! :drama:
It was so nice and relaxing, watching his 3A this season without having to stress out so much about it!

USA judge really didn't like Nathan much this comp for some reason :dev2:

And his StSq was only lvl 3 , but I liked it better than worlds? he was also with the music in the chsq

The Axel Streak!! Here for a good time not a long time - lol

13/14 is still very good!!

Apparently he was vomiting after practice today:(:(

Amazing that he was able to pull off this skate and his reaction at the end was very cute. Added bonus of super fluffy hair:luv17::luv17:

I noticed that he had that string holding down his shirt at Worlds:p

Time for some rest:pray::pray:

But his schedule will still be busy - school and finals, and Stars on Ice.
