Nathan Chen

Nathan has a small frame, narrow shoulders and hips - which would make any weight gain more apparent.

Yeah he does. Although he's not as skinny and lanky looking as those beanpole type skaters such as Yuzu, Junhwan, Vincent or Boyang. He has more 'meat' on his body  (which is why imo his skating/movements look better, actually) but I would still describe his body type as petite and slender looking.

The rise and overall length of these well-worn pants are too short.

Yep, those are exactly the problems with those pants. It's such a bad cut and this has nothing to do with the weight of the person wearing them. Although I guess maybe Nathan's skater quad muscles might be the reason they're riding up even more .

Doesn’t seem that Nathan cares about or is even aware of any wardrobe problems - despite that the pants look at least a bit uncomfortable, and possibly could split mid-performance (please don’t actually happen!), he’s still wearing them:p

Likely not that easy for him to buy pants with his quad muscles, it appears he only has like one pair of black jeans.

First time poster. Thanks to everyone on this forum for all the Nathan updates.
My suggestion RE the ill-fitting pants problem, just wear the Vera Wang ones. He can load up on several pairs & wear them with different tops.
I went to the San Jose SOI & met some really interesting folks standing in line to meet the skaters. I met the President of the Osaka Nathan fan club. She goes to every performance & competition Nathan is in. I had read about such fans on this forum & couldn’t believe I actually met one. She has met Nathan’s family & Yuki. She gave Nathan a summer shirt & a preserved rose for Mirai. I told her I would see her at Skate America. I also met one of Nathan’s artist fan, a high school sophomore. He actually brought pencil drawings of all the skaters as gifts. So talented. Although SOI was great, I enjoyed the Meet & Greet just as much.

Welcome! :)

Welcome! I suspect there may be some type of contractural agreement where he can only wear the VW costumes for the biggest competitions, i.e. Nats, Olys, Worlds. Maybe 4CC if he ever goes there again.

I've read on twitter of a fair number of Japanese fans who attended both the Anaheim and San Jose shows.

Have to admit that I was thinking 'All the guys are wearing nicely fitted black pants' while watching this - lol:

The next time I run into the President of the Osaka Nathan fan club I will suggest she give him nice looking black jeans instead of more T-shirts. Since she’s buddies with Yuki, she can find out size info. He’s an adult now, so he needs better fitting clothes. He does wear fan gifts. BTW, I read somewhere that his former coach gave him that “great” Caravan vest. He was just going to wear the white shirt. I also found out at the Meet & Greet that Nathan got some of the gorgeous Ralph Lauren sweaters that he modeled in SPUR magazine. I suggested he wear them occasionally since looked so good in them.

Honestly I don't think the Asian shows are too bad. They do a few shows in the same city so it's not the constant travel of the US SOI tour. He's performing watered down programs and the food is usually good, too. It's not at all like the insane post-Worlds whirlwind tour.

I wonder if he flies business class now.

He flew business class last year - at least in one of his stories, his seat looked like United Polaris.

Yeah, so his flights are going to be a lot more relaxing. When he went to Worlds and WTT he was probably in coach the entire time.

Nathan will be cutting his hair after Skate America:p He seems to prefer having longer hair.

Looks like he’s gained maybe 5 lbs or so, don’t think it’s really that much. He did look noticeably different than at Worlds gala or WTT - which was only last month.

That ChenYu poster has quite an imagination, lol.

The week between PIW and Dream on Ice might be tough for him with no friends there. Alina and J/C might be his only friends at DOI, so we probably would not see lots of pictures, just like last year. Hopefully mom or Yuki would accompany him there. Without Shoma in the cast for DOI, I am wondering how the tickets are going to sell.

Actually Rika gets more media attention than Shoma nowadays. She was the final performer for the WTT gala (which caused some controversy among the Japanese fans). DOI will also be the first Japanese show for Vincent, Trusova, and Kostornaia so there's a lot of interest there. And with his win at Worlds Nathan is more popular in Japan that ever.

Between shows Nathan should be fine on his own. He had no problems last year taking the shinkansen and wandering around Tokyo all by himself last year. And he's now considered a full adult in Japan now. :hap57:

Romain would be in that Skate Forward Ice show around June 22th, while Mariah will not be this year.

Romain please come back soon. Miss all those bike riding and guitar contents.

Romain isn't on the cast list anymore. I heard he was doing a show this weekend in France so he may be back soon.
