Nathan Chen

The first one that comes to mind is The Legends finale but I don't think he was next to Shoma.
Yeah I thought about this one, but couldn’t find the image corresponding to what I had in mind, where Nathan has the same arm position as in that ATS photo. Maybe it’s just my memory acting up 😜 Still, thank you for the help!

More photos from the Daivd Yurman photo shoot.

The BBC broadcast of Nathan's FS is gone from Youtube so here's a reupload from Weibo:

Random question here. I came across this old photo on my timeline today (second one): https://www.instagram.com/p/ByYVSsPpHhp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link and it reminded me of a similar picture, where Nathan's balletic posture stands out in the crowd. The problem is, I only remember it was a group number in a show with Shoma standing next to him, but don't remember which show exactly. Does anyone happen to remember where that picture is from? It's really bugging me now 🤦‍♀️

Probably a group number or finale from Heroes and Future in Nagano, 2018? Sigh, all the videos have been removed from YouTube, and aboutNathan’s Twitter account has been suspende.

Yeah those are the videos I was talking about but I couldn’t remember off the top of my head where I had seen these. Kurt didn’t specify what ”working” with Nathan meant but I just took it to mean choreography, otherwise I’m not sure what other kind of work he could be doing with Nathan? I also vaguely remember he had said choreography for Nathan on another occasion that wasn’t a video interview, plus he has mentioned Nathan’s versatility multiple times, which from a choreographer’s point of view would naturally be a great quality to work with.
Yes, Kurt talked about Nathan‘s versatility a couple of times. The choreography thing is from CBC‘s That Figure Skating Show. AboutNathan has the Nathan part, unfortunately the account has been suspended. It is so hard to be a Nathan fan nowadays.

Anyone interested in the talk can find sheetz’s summary here #18271. The CBC video is still on YouTube, but a VPN is needed.

You’re right! I found the video on Weibo. There’s a fleeting frame of Nathan at 8’06” that is exactly what I was looking for :D

This also survives on Vimeo (my fav moment at 7’51”):

Why was aboutNathan’s account suspended??
I don’t know the exact reason why it was suspended, but tweeter said it someone( or company) reported multiply... Not every, but almost all videos and photos are still accessible. If you were looking for a specific one, ask new account!

Not much to trend really from previous WTT:

I think he'll probably move at least one combination to the front half for the FS maybe even the SP he's usually more chill at WTT.

I think if the 4Lo makes an appearance a 6 quad FS is nearer than we think. After all, once he put in the 4S in 2019, he put it in consistently the following season.

He has never put in a 4Lz I don't think he's risking it this time around with the Olympics so near.

I'm going with either the LVI layout: 4Lo, 4S, 4T-1Eu-3F, 4T3T, or a double 4F layout: 4F3T, 4S, 4T-1Eu-3F, 4F3T (or a solo 4F, with the 3T tagged to an earlier triple).

The SA layout (4F, 4S, 4T-1Eu-3T, 4T3T) is reasonable but not that exciting 😛

I don't think he'll go for a 4Lo? I don't think this has been a jump he has focused on lately, since he needed to prepare for Worlds and select the most consistent jumps to work on.
And now that he's peaked, he's not gonna rush back to work on it again for an event such as WTT with such a short preparation time at that (assuming he took it easy for a few days up to a week after Worlds)? 🤔

I'm more curious to see what his and Yuzu's general strategies are going to be.
It's a fun fluff event, where they might wanna relax and not put too much pressure on themselves, and focus more on enjoying presenting their programs with an easier layout?
But then both might feel like they can't take it too easy, since they're also competing for their team mates and they have quite a rival in each other, so they can't 'slack' too much.
Yuzuru might also be looking for a kind of redemption skate or a redo, now that he's feeling fit (although that could mean just a clean skate for his fans, not necessarily beating Nathan)?
And in the case of Nathan, if you take a risk and travel in such times like these, you would wanna make sure to get the most out of it, also in terms of prize money, no?

I think both can be enjoyable, since the rivalry can be exciting but also a smooth skate in a relaxed environement is so nice to watch. But I do hope both decide on the same approach, since it would feel weird if one of them lays it all down, when the other one doesn't do the same. 😄

ETA: If both of them water down their content, but someone like Misha and/or Shoma keep their Worlds layouts, they could also swoop in though.

So you don't believe Raf when he said Nathan didn't have much time to work on his 4Lz (because he was working on his 4Lo too in case Yuzu showed up with a 4Axel, just kidding just kidding)?😆

I could certainly see him trying 4Lo if it's ready. He did it at LVI with essentially no recovery time so it shouldn't be any worse here. Besides, Team USA likely doesn't have a realistic shot at first place. And maybe not even second unless a few Japanese skaters bomb. OTOH they should have no problem finishing 3rd.
