Nationals transportation

I've never been to one of these huge competitions. Do you think the arena will be cold? I live in Mpls so I know it's cold here, but I'm not from here originally and I'm very cold blooded. Are the actual seating areas cold enough to keep a coat on usually?

2007 SA ws MY first competition and yes the arena WAS cold enough for a coat or at least layers with a lighter weight jacket/coat worked for me fairly well. None was really uncomfortably cold but I did feel chilled. My legs got cold too so I traded back and forth with where I used my coat around my shoulders or over my legs. Also - feet!

My seats were fairly close to the ice - row 7. Maybe further up would've been somewhat warmer. Anybody here know about that? I'm higher up - row 15 - for the Championship FSkates.

you will want at least a light weight jacket... one of my friends actually bundles up like she's getting ready for a blizzard (maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but she DID steal my heavy blanket that I use on the plane lol) but she's from "the south"

I wore a tshirt in the arena in st. louis most days...

You do NOT need to worry about being cold in Xcel. This is one of the best ice arenas in the country to be a spectator. You can see well from everywhere, it is gorgeous inside, and it is WARM! A sweatshirt will be fine.

I live 2 miles from it so I've been there a billion times to see the Wild play! Can't wait to see figure skating live!!

Thanks for the tip. I was chilly at Skate America so I was planning on bundling up. Will be much more comfortable if I don't have to have so much bulky stuff to deal with.

Yeah, you can essentially wear what you'd wear to a basketball game or something. If someone came to Minneapolis years ago when there was a Worlds competition here, it was held at the Target Center, which was built for basketball. Xcel was built for skating and it's incredible. You'll have a great time!

Remember, however, to really bundle up for walking around outside the next couple of days! Next weekend will be a heat wave (20s) so you'll be fine, but it's coooold here this weekend!!

ok I take it back, it's cold here

btw, if you are staying at the Kelly Inn here in St. Paul (like I am) you can purchase the bus pass at the front desk.

Reading about all your plans and thoughts makes me even more regretful I am not there! Argh. Merrybari enjoy your first Nats! Be sure to watch all levels- novice and junior in addition to senior. Seeing how great all the levels are was one of the surprise joys of my first Nats.
