Hi,

I am looking for some advice, I currently have Jackson debuts, the toebox is fine, but the heel lock is terrible. Is there any brand or boot that has a snugger heel while maintaining the toebox, or am I doomed to go custom?

Yes, there are other boots that would fit you more safely, but we need to know a lot more about you and your foot shape first. Where are you in the world, so someone can recommend a good skate shop and fitter near you? What is your age and technical skill level? What are your stats -- height and weight? What is your foot shape (see charts for the names given to shape of toes). Are your arches high, average, low, flat? Do your feet pronate or supinate? Brands can be quite specific as to their appropriate foot shape, and the specific model will depend on your age, size, and skill level. Good luck!

Thank you for the fast reply! I am 40 year old male, 180 lb 6”ft tall size 9 or 270-275 mondo in mm, skill level juvenile (started late, but my wife wants me to be her dance partner) foot shape is between a Roman and Egyptian with the two toes next to the big one being long but tapered, pronate for sure, Located in WI, USA.

Thanks in advance!

You're probably looking at Risport for that foot shape then, maybe Riedell or Graf, in one of the stiffest models because of your size, with perhaps insoles unless the shop can get the blades mounted exactly right to counter your pronation. Regular MK Pro or CA Ace blades will do you for years for both basic freeskate and dance. No need for special dance blades yet.

I'm on the Pacific coast of Canada, so not much help as to fitters in your area. @Ic3Rabbit , can you help with a skate shop where he is? (And you know brand models better than I do for his feet and other stats. Thanks!)

Hi and welcome! It sounds like your foot type is more Roman than Egyptian. Brands: Jackson, Graf, Risport.

Look at the Men's Jackson Synergy Ignite. It's a Fusion model boot and can be more adapted when ordered (semi-custom).
You can also look at the Graf Edmonton Special or Risport RF1 Elite.

I would pair those with the MK Pro or JW Coro Aces that @Diana Delafield recommended upthread.

For a pro fitter look at:
Pure Gold Ice Werks
Sheboygan, WI, United States

Good luck!

Thanks @Ic3Rabbit Unfortunately they are not available. Do you think the Risport royal pro would work? Jackson seem to have a lot room in the heel for me and I have low arches and the debuts hurt, they might also be too big.

No to the Royal Pro, it's built differently than the RF line and will not be wide enough for your foot type.

No b/c it won't be stiff enough for you. That is why I suggested the RF1 Elite.

Also, with Jackson, stay way from Debut it's NOWHERE near stiff enough for you.
@Ic3Rabbit thank you so much rabbit! Which one out of the 3 boots you recommended do you think would work best. I attached some pictures.
