'New' Mukhortova/Trankov , TT/MM clones???

Oxade21 posted Mukhortova/Trankov's SP at Finland Trophy. Wow, they look like TT/MM's clones.

They do seem to have improved a lot. Very classic lines and polished. It's a very pleasant surprise.

Wow! What an improvement! I have to say I have never been too impressed with Vasiliev before - T&M came to him as an already very well established team. This, though, is different. They seem so much more focused than before! All the work they did together (interview here) is really paying off. BTW, love their death spiral - far more graceful than most others done today (OK, just looked at the judges scores - the spiral only got a level 1, probably because it did not have the ugly arm change; will be interesting to see their FS spiral - it actually got a level 4).

I really like this pair. That twist looked effortless. The costumes are a lot like the ones TT/MM wore for thier "snowstorm" program, thus the similariy. I would think they will go far.

I'm not sure I think Totmiannina/Maranin had enough of a singular style for any pair to be considered "clones" of them, but I do see some basic similarites. I think, tho, the true test of whether or not they're T/M clones would be if they skate like expressionless androids, and this video was filmed too far up in the stands to be able to really figure that out or not.

That being said, there were some elements in this that I really liked, especially the side by side sitspins. However -- I think "Otonal" is rapidly rising up there with "Carmen" on the List Of Music Selections That We Could Really Do Without Hearing A 5,000th Time.....
