I hope she goes to RA full time and comes back and kick's ***. I am a major kwan fan and have never liked her cause I was a freak for Kwan. She is a much better skater than "Don't cry for me Mao Asada". I think her wheels will fall off by 2010 and Kim's are aready falling off.

Not sure she is a diva. In order to be a diva, one has to be REALLY good. Maria Callas was a diva and she was good. Some ppl nick name Arakawa as Divakawa, and Shizuka is good. Cohen at her best in competitive skatingl, IMO she does not have the credential to qualify for divaship.

but I can't help thinking that if she were of a different ethnicity or from a working-class background, but with exactly the same skating, a lot of the animus against her on these pages would never have existed.

What is Cohen's ethnicity? YOu are saying that she is an American? or her mother's heritage is Ukraine? HOw many other skater has exactly the same ethnicity as Cohen? About working class, what exactly do you mean. Doesn't her father work for a living, I believe Galina stayed home. How is that different from Kimmie's parents, or Sarah's parents, or Nagasu's parents?

But her off-ice personality is not what counts about her

Not sure what you mean, but her coach TT did comment on her lack of committment for training, e.g. staying up all night to bake cookies, and flying to Paris for frequent shopping trips. According to TT all these off ice activities interfered with her training.

Regardless of what she said about Michelle, NO athlete owes it to anyone else to stay out of competition for the sake of the next generation. Sports are about seeing who's best, and if the "old" 25-year-olds can beat the teenagers, more power to them.

Well, lets see if Cohen can beat Rachel, Caroline and Mirari for a spot on the olys team (that is assuming USA will have 3 spots)

I don't really think Sasha will come back, and if she does my heart will be in my throat... but I wouldn't underestimate her.

There is no underestimating Cohen, in fact her fans are constantly hyping her as the best skater ever.

I've always taken "titles" to mean championships a skater won, not placed 2nd or 3rd in. .

Totally agree, and IMO Arakawa WUZ robbed in Skate Canada 2003. Cohen has never impress me as a skater who loves to compete. She does not thrive under big competitions. She may like skating for the glamour side of it, but she can easily get that through show skating. LOL returning to NIcks. Nicks seems to allow Cohen to do whatever she wants even when she was very young.

^ Agreed, but seriously, aren't we all beating a dead horse? She is out of competition. That's a fact. Come to think of it we really shouldn't be talking about her, unless it's in the context of the Stars on Ice tour.

I agree with Red Dog. End of discussion for me here too. At this point, she is so irrelevant to me and to the rest of the figure skating world, if she ever tries to compete again, perhaps I'll be interested if only for the sake of laugher. Even if she tried, I don't think she'll get too far.
