News from Korea

What! I don't think there's been any mention of the change even in Japanese media. I guess it was a secret change. I'd say this is a smart move on Miki's part. Facing Yukari with Gieselle would always work against her favor, as proven by her much lower than usual pcs she got at SA. Good luck to her!

By 2014, Jeff would be 31? But he looks so young that he should be fine:biggrin:

My dad mistook Jeff for a 17-year-old when he was 25, so I guess by 2014, Jeff should be 23 years old in terms of his appearance! :p

Mao and Lysacek will have tough time trying to share Jeff :)

:chorus: I wonder if Tanith got jealous when she saw Evan "fooling" around with Jeff at the 4CC gala. ;)

The artist captured Chan's permanent wide-eyed spacey look perfectly.

 Love your description! I know some people find Patrick's "permanent wide-eyed spacey look" a bit scary, but I think it's part of his cutie patootie charm. :)

I'm not so sure Miki's changed her LP. That site, although official, isn't always reliable. I'm thinking she'll most likely be doing "Giselle" at the GPF.

I sure hope I'm wrong, though. I don't think the music's that hot to begin with, and Miki's version pales in comparison to Yukari's.

Practice reports...
Jonny Weir in his interview compared Mao and Kim as "sweet/soft VS firery/dominant"...he added who you like depends on "personal taste" :)
Jonny said he has been in Asia for 2 weeks. Where has he been?

Johnny flew to Korea from Japan, it made more sense to him and his coaches for him to train for the GPF in Japan and then fly to Korea instead of returning to the states. He did something similar last year where he flew straight to Russia to train for CoR after he skated in CoC.

I'm really suprised at this news. I watched SA and I did prefer Yukari's LP(but prefered Miki's costume :p) but this change seems so sudden. I thought if they change they would go back to Carmen number which I liked very much, but a totally new program! I'm both excited and worried.

I am really surprised, too. Chhanging the LP in the middle of the season into totally a new one. She's changed programs before, but I do not recall that these worked out well even when she switched to her old SP music. Oda once changed his LP into a new one and it didn't work out, either. Although Shizuka did it very well, she was recycling her old programs.
But this is not the most important event for her. So it may be okay for the time being. Besides, Mosozov can create programs that are not necessarily tune to each note or phrase of the music. So they might be able to use many parts from some kind of a template from her previous programs.
I agree that Carmen might have been a good one if she needed to change because she skated it at least already four times and did very well once. It was also choreographically the most complex program from the Miki-Morozov team.

Has anyone heard anything about any of the ice dance teams?

And I'm interested to see the new LP from Miki, it's surprising that she would change it but if she has I say good move.

I guess Mao with her current LP is no longer sweet and soft

ITA.
Mao with her current LP looks firely and dominant.
Her strong skating and the power, energy that her body generates are impressive.
On the other hand, Mao with her current SP is still totally soft, sweet and delicate.

So, who is who?

Mao may have a very dramatic program, but I don't feel like she has the expression to pull it off. Mao is not a natural actress on ice...I think if they were going to go with dramatic they should have gone with a music that has some softer elements too.

Sorry, Joubert, Yu-Na is for Johnny (according to her own preferences). Take Marchei anytime...

It's just fun and Johnny didn't mind so much when he heard what Joubert wanted. He said he'd always be Yu-na's first and left it at that. I doubt he ever thought that Yu-na would never skate with another male skater...

Actually in Johnny's talk about sweetness/spice. I actually think that Mao would actually make a better skating partner for Johnny because Mao has a softer/balletic side that Johnny has.

In the sense as a skating partner I think that Yu-na works better with Joubert (for similar reasons) due to dramatic style that Yu-na Joubert both can pull off that Johnny really can't....

I'd love to see Mao partner with a male like Johnny and do side by side triple axels.
