Hello everyone.
I am an adult skater (25yo, 66kg, 163cm) who’s been skating for a year. I have Jackson Freestyle boots which I upgraded 5 months ago from Graf 500s. The difference is huge, and I have learned salchow, toe loop and now learning loop in them. My issue comes when I try spins. I can do a couple revs on a one foot spin from a half a heart entrance but I find it very hard to stay on the rocker and not rock onto the toepick. I’ve had a read on forums like these and I think the general consensus is that Aspire XP blades are quite flat?? So my question is, is it worth me upgrading to CoroAce blades on my Freestyle boot? Or will I lose my jumps? I’m finding in the loop atm (3 turn entrance) I’m rocking onto the toepick too soon, but that could also be a case of practicing, but I’m wondering if I bigger rocker would help with it too. My spins are very scrape-y at the moment and I’m sick of it!! My coach wants to teach me a backspin but I need to get my forward scratch first! She said I’m getting ahead in jumps and lagging behind in spins. She’s not too helpful when asked about equipment however.
What do you think I should do?
