Nicolas Nadeau

I briefly spoke to Nic after the short program at the Quebec Summer Championships, and he told me that he has a new LP, and that it's going to be great. I can't wait to see it tomorrow night! :yay:

Admittedly, he's not as chatty towards his fans as Joseph Phan is, but even if my interaction with Nic only lasted about 20 seconds, it's always nice to be near a stud muffin. :love:

He did seem excited about his new free skate. Hopefully it will just as good, if not better, than Elvis Presley.
 
Please forgive me for all the screaming I did during my recording of Nic's LP, but I truly couldn't help myself because Depeche Mode is one of my all-time favourite bands, and I think it's totally EPIC that he's skating to their music for a competitive program!!! :dance3: :yahoo:https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6rvbzg Fans "Just Can't Get Enough" of him! :biggrin:

Nic told me afterwards that Shae-Lynn Bourne is the choreographer. He admitted that the program was fairly demanding, which is why he ran out of steam towards the end, but he knows that it will get stronger as the season progresses.

I'm so glad he nailed the 3A-3T at the beginning! And I really like the program, even though the only songs I know form DM are: "Enjoy the Silence" and "Personal Jesus". Happy for him that he could work with Shae-Lynn! I also hope it'll get better by the time the GP starts, it could be a stunner if it's skated right :)

I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed it even though you're not a DM fan. :) In case you might be curious, the songs are:

- "Enjoy the Silence" (although this version is sung by Martin Gore, the songwriter and backing vocalist; the one most people are familiar with was sung by Dave Gahan, the lead singer)
- "It's No Good" which later contains lyrics from "Master and Servant"
- "I Feel You"
- "Somebody" (this is my favourite DM song, so my fangirl heart was swooning when I heard it!)
- "Personal Jesus"
- "Just Can't Get Enough"

Nic gushed over Shae-Lynn while we talked (I can't believe I got to speak to him twice at the same competition! :hap93: ). I agreed with him that this program will be spectacular when he irons out the early-season wrinkles. :cool:

Didn't mind the fangirling but I can hear the song mix much clearer in this version. Thanks for posting. I've watched a few times already and it brings a smile to my face.
Nic seems to enjoy skating to DM, too!

Phew, I'm glad it didn't bother you. :p If you ever do get the chance to see Nic perform Depeche Mode in person (and he skates it reasonably well), you'll recognize even more so than what a 2-dimensional screen can capture that he has a rock star-like charisma which causes virtually everyone in the arena to lose their minds. I know he looks nothing like Dave Gahan or Martin Gore, but he was basically channelling their "music gods" spirit for 4 minutes. (And ditto for Elvis Presley.)

I'm grateful for the livestream audio as well because even while I was there, I had trouble hearing the little nuances in the songs thanks to Sportplexe Pierrefonds' crappy sound system. :disapp:

You're welcome. I've showed the livestream vid to 3 Facebook friends who are big DM fans, but who aren't interested in figure skating, and they all LOVED it! :biggrin:

Considering that the band is ancient from his perspective, I was astonished at how well their style suited him! (Amazing job, Shae-Lynn! :clap: ) He told me after his SP that he couldn't wait to show off his new free skate, so that seems to indicate that he likes the songs that she chose for him.

Having talked to Nic on three separate occasions, I think the two songs (in tone, not in lyrics) which reflect his personality the best are "I Feel You" because he's got this powerful, masculine presence, and "Just Can't Get Enough" because he's a bit goofy.
 
for those who don't speak French here is a brief summary

Nic says, in his gorgeous voice ;) that last year, his season ended much earlier than he thought.. he was hoping to get at least on the 4cc if not to worlds... but finishing early meant that, since he had almost no classes at school, he could focus on training and shows in april... he said his season was a roller coaster with lots of highs and downs and that they worked a lot this year to show that he is stable and can get better and better scores

he said he kept his shot and for the long it's depeche mode and he loves his lp
