No Respect For Bebe....

I remember that she also lost her coach that she was very fond of.
I miss her so much. She was such a lovely skater.

No that was Angela Nikodinov. Unless the same thing also happned to Jenny, but seems to she never did lose a coach!

I so agree with those who said that Bebe was bumped. She skated better than some of the performances shown and placed in the top ten, which is more than Ashley can say. She has a beautiful freeskate and I think it was rude of ESPN not to show it. That will most likely be the last time we see her skate that program and almost positively the last time she makes the world team. I would rather have watched her freeskate any day instead of Keirra Korpi or Ashley's.

Based on her "up & coming" years, I believe she had the talent to compete & more importantly beat the best of the best... and in a time where greatness was the rule, not the exception.

It seems like this sport is full of people who could have been great.

ITA that Bebe being "on the verge" for so many years, a la Corwin, does her no favors, but that has more to do with USFS politics; I would expect the TV networks to bypass this and in any event I do not think it is unreasonable for the American Broadcasting Company to show ALL the Americans entered at the Worlds, regardless of placement or performance. I have no doubt all the other countries there show all THEIR skaters in their telecasts.

As to the basic comparison between Bebe and Amber -- I actually think they are/were, whatever tense would be appropriate, more or less even technically, but Bebe is by far a more charismatic, interesting skater to watch; regardless of Corwin's technical arsenal (which in "her day" was fairly highly regarded), she was just for the most part dull to watch. Bebe may be erratic, but IMHO she is rarely dull.

I agree that they showed Ashley and not BeBe because Ashley still has potential to place much higher at Worlds in the future, while BeBe is old history. I think it was sad not to show BeBe though, since that was probably her final trip to Worlds.

This reminds me of the time ESPN/ABC completely ignored Ryan Jahnke's only trip to Worlds. It stinks when you have to go to other countries' online broadcasts to see skaters from your own country.

Ugh. I guess they at least showed her short program, which was the best overall ladies SP performance in the competition, imo.

Bebe has always showed interesting programs to watch. She has style and personality. Her Apocalyptica program was interesting too.

Live Kirk never got close to the speed and power of Liang's skating, and her jumps were tiny. She was obviously a stronger competitor than Liang at Nationals. Liang also went through a significant body change since she was claimed the "second coming" at a very young age: she was Zhang/Nagasu-like then and developed into a much more muscular person in her mid-late teens, while Kirk remained lithe.
