I want to hear from you guys what your overall impression of Skate Canada is.

I am totally enjoying it. Proper commentary on CBC and complete coverage of all skaters. I am happy that my tax money is well spent on public broadcasting.

Ladies:
- a little bit of shock makes our life interesting.
- happy for Cynthia to go out there and try out triple lutz and flip. She made a great stride from last year's nationals. Cynthia, Keep plugging away.
- I was so sad after watching Joannie doing gorgeous 3-3 in practice and not coming through in SP.

Men:
- I told you guys. Vaughn is the kid to watch.
- Some of the men skaters stole Sandhu's music; that made me miss Emanuel even more. Come on, not many skaters can skate the way Sandhu can. And don't even bother.

I totally agree with you about everything!! Makes me wish I were Candadian!!!!!!

Best commentator ever!

I totally agree! I don't have cable tv and it is so awesome that you can watch the entire competition on line. I'm looking forward to the midnight broadcast of the short programs on the main network. I'm sure the commentating will be a bit more wordy with Tracy Wilson and Kurt Browning.

My only two complaints about the coverage so far...

1. Whose bright idea was it to schedule the SP coverage on the main CBC network for midnight?? As wonderful as the online/CBC Country Canada coverage has been so far, a lot of more casual skating fans still rely on the main network and would be unlikely to tune in that late at night.

2. I wish CBC could do the same for all the GP events this season...or at least Worlds!

Off to try to watch at least a bit of the midnight CBC broadcast before falling asleep...

I was very puzzled by this as well. Who schedules skating (not a re-broadcast) to start at midnight? All I can figure is that they signed the deal with the ISU to broadcast the event at the last moment, and couldn't re-jig their Friday evening schedule in time to offer it at a more conventional hour. It's also on Saturday morning, so there may be some repeat of the late-night coverage then.

Don't you know this is Canada - Hockey rules the media here - especially on the CBC. I am afraid as popular as figure skating is here in the frozen tundra, Hockey still takes precedence. We are lucky to be viewing figure skating at midnight. CTV used to show it at a decent hour.

This is one of my ten reasons why I hate Hockey!!!

I went to bed at 9:30, set the alarm for midnight. When I woke up this morning at 6:00, I saw that I had set it for noon today instead.
