Pairs long

I dont think so. Totmianina/Marinin were certainly not lovers off the ice, and they failed to demonstrate any on-ice chemistry whatsoever in their performances. However they still had superb basic skating skills, tremendous edge quality, and wonderful line and positions, excellent use of the music and its phrasing, even if they lacked the magic or excitement of Shen/Zhou. The Zhangs dont even come close to having those same traits and it isnt due to their lack of off ice romance, or on ice chemistry.

I don't like T/M on and off the ice!
Many of their programs are good and beautiful in choreography. But their performances alwalys make me very disappointment. The expression in T's face looks very rigid!

I love T&M. They have really developed as a pair. They had great edge quality and consistency as eligible skaters. As pros their artistry has really developed and they have not lost their technical ability.

Well, whoever said that Russian pair skating is dead was so wrong!!!
If in the next three years Bazarova does not oversize and overgrow, this is next world champion right there. Not sure if it is going be with the same partner though.

Bazarova is beautiful. Her posture, elegance reminded me of young Gordeeva. Her partner does not have those qualities yet, but he could improve. I hope they will develop into world champions. I have missed that style of skating since the chinese pairs started dominating.

Only after the 2006 olympics!

I think so! Bazarova looks very elegance and pure. Her posture is beatuiful too!

Upon watching, one thing I really noticed is that D/D have a lot of features/ difficulty in their entrances and exits to elements. I agree with the poster who said it looked almost like they got spooked halfway through with how well they were doing. Work still to be done on the program - it was pretty ragged in places, but it's still early, early season and I'd be concerned if there was nothing to work on.

Pang/Tong: I know the discussion has been ongoing since they hit the scene, but I've never found Pang to be exceptionally skinny (when compared to others like Zhang, for instance), but I REALLY noticed it this time out. I thought this looked like a really new program in the sense that the chemistry wasn't really there yet, but I think it has great potential.

Bazarova/Lorianov: Very impressive up and comers. I predict they will have some problems with the necessary upgrades to their jumps, however. She barely gets off the ice as it is with the doubles — which, incidentally, also makes his and hers jump technique look entirely different and out of synch. She has beautiful line and posture, and is clearly the one you look at in the pair, but he is also good in his supporting role. Very promising.

For Jess and Bryce, the programs are a year old but I think I agree that if they kept them there must have been room for improvement :) My hypothesis is that they could have been spooked out because, last year at 4 Continents, they were skating a great program by their standards and then got over confident (too close) on the spins, and well then she was cut in the face. I haven't seen their performance, yet, so this is just speculation.

They did keep the programs from last year, but their sp (maybe their long, havn't seen it yet) had alot of changes to it. The fookwork is compleatly new and they've added more difficult transitions. That's probably why they had some problems. and they only competed twice last year. 4cc dosn't really count.
