Pairs Short Program

I really think that, before one rushes to judgement about scores being inflated, one should study the protocols. CoP has many mysteries, lol, and each season, there are changes in the rules, and therefore, new mysteries lol.

Congrats to S/S for placing 1st in the SP!

yes!! so far this GPF is going great for me!!!!

Why?

Evan skated well, beat johnny.
Tanith and Ben in First
Stephane landed the 3 axel
S/S are in first
Kimmie is in 5th ( and finally getting the plcement she deserved)
Caroline is in 2nd, with a shot at winning!

Alright people.
Competition is over for the day.
Let's all have a beer and see what happens tomorrow. It's done now. Can't we all be friends again ???

(BTW, Yes, Asada was ridiculously overscored, P/T took some friendly judging on this, but Takahashi deserved his score IMO. I'm not the best person to judge Z/Z, I'm not a fan of them at all)

LOL, I LOVE this post!!! Come on gang, at the end of the day, it's just figure skating!:cool:

i think the American team has almost confirmed their place in Senior Pairs with these remarkable showings. They not only won over K/S, they won over a Moskvina team.

Most of the forum's predictions had Mc/B in last place. Well, it still could happen.

Joe

Well, K&S made a huge mistake (lift didn't count). If they hadn't had that problem, they probably would've been ahead. That said, I hope M&B skate better tomorrow. They probably had jitters being their first GPF and all.

The fact that the Zhangs got higher SS than S&S is a complete and utter joke. But S&S set a world record! :D

According that. I could say the fact that S&S got higher pcs elements except SS than P&T is a joke too!!

Sorry, but no way. P&T don't have nearly edge quality, connection, originality, transitions, choreography nor performance qualities S&S have.

What we see on TV or on the computer screen is so much different from what the judges see--I know sometimes I want to scream at some judges, but I also just sit back and remember that I'm just a fan who happened to take some lessons in skating as a kid. I don't know what those judges know. I can't really even accuse them of collusion because there are times when groups of human beings can come to a collective, or can relate to the same thing, or not relate to the same thing (fantasy theme analysis of ernest bormann--check that one out), and the beauty (or beast hahaha) of being a human being is that this can happen multiple times.

Sure, we've had cheating judges in the past, and some skaters benefitted from it, but more often than not, the skaters who did benefit happened to be the best at what they did. Bestemianova and Bukin were untouched because they were the best of their generation. Of course, if the judges' flavour of the week were...Mira Leung, then maybe we'd have cause to scream, but at the moment...

Let's wait until the outcome of the event before accusing anyone of biased nationalism, and let's enjoy the sport for how exciting it can be, regardless of the scores.

Let's not forget that this is just skating. These skaters do work their whole lives for these performances, and it is sad when they make mistakes, but in the end, there are (hopefully) other parts of their lives that make them whole human beings. What happens in this competition won't have a bearing on how the rest of the world turns out.

They really have lovely line and unison - sure, they need to get stronger at competing and hit all the elements, but I see much potential here.

Pang/Tong have clearly lost more ground to Zhang/Zhang and Savchenko/ Szowkoly. Their best SP scoring about 6 points less then the other 2 teams best SP. That says it all. I like Pang/Tong but they have always been a team that had no chance, atleast with the judges, of beating any of their main rivals going close to clean. Totmianina/Marinin, Shen/Zhou, Zhang/Zhang, and Savchenko/Szowkoly always had to give them some help for them to have a shot. However that now seems more true then ever before.

That is only a joke I said above!

I want to say that theTES and PCS of S&S's sp is so huge though their throw jump is not good ,and PE,CH,IN in PCS are higher than S&Z's in 07 worlds. I konw they are in different competition, But is their performance in this competition better than S&Z in 07 Worlds?

Savchenko/Szowkoly deserved every mark they got. It is Zhang/Zhang who were proposterously overscored on PCS, not the Germans who deserve a much bigger lead then they do. Pang/Tong were also underscored and should be closer to the overrated Zhangs.

You ask if Savchenko/Szowkoly were better then Shen/Zhou at the 2007 Worlds? Well the overrated Zhang/Zhang sure as heck were not, and their score was also similar.

Though Zhang/Zhang's PCS is higher than before, the gap between Z&Z and S&Z still shows in scores.Isn't it? I think P&T should be closer to Z&Z and S&S too.
I konw S&S have good tecnics, but I think their performance in this competition is not good.

I have a small question - what was the mistake on the lift in Jessica and Bryce's program? The mistake is mentionned on the Skate Canada website but without details. It's a strange mistake, because their lifts are normally so strong.

Thanks!!

Kypma
