Pairs SP

No team was clean, but D&D less so than P&T... not sure what's going on with the scoring. All in all, a messy and disappointing SP.

My favorite moment was the great lift combination by Evora and Ladwig.

I don't get it. It looks like P&T beat D&D on so many scores.

There's only 2 points difference in PCS. However, if p&t's 3t downgraded, that alone is going to cost them 3 points... Also the level of spins, lifts, you really don't know what's going on under CoP until you get the protocol sheet.

D&D must have gotten many level 3/4 in their spins & lift etc. I don't think they have made any progress compared to last season.

PCS in general is pretty low...

 for Dube/Davison. Gosh, I hope they don't let the pressure get to them. If the mind games start, the FS can turn into a real splatfest. They'll probably still be in tough to win, but silevr would be really good, and they have a shot at gold. I like Pang/Tong to, so may the best skaters win. Hopefully this is a confidence boost for D/D after such a tough season last year. It's a shame that their program didn't impress most people though. I haven't seen it so I won't judge. They didn't try the triple twist, did they?

wow, the first comp of the season (senior) and the first upset...imo....I can't wait to see this (but fear I never will). thanks so much for the pbp...much, much appreciated!!!!

That is very strange, Pang/Tong killed Dube/Davison on the second mark, and yet they are still behind. Their technical mark is extremely strange, maybe they had something downgraded or broke a rule or something.

I am stunned. Good job Dube and Davidson!! A major accomplsihment to beat the world champs!

I thought they were keeping their same SP from last season — a program I LOVED.

I too hope it won't turn into a splatfest with nerves getting to everyone. I think P/T still have the decided advantage for the gold, but D/D being so close makes it exciting.

I hope Dube/Davison win but I am not getting my hopes up. I like Pang/Tong too, and much prefer them to the Zhangs. I just hope for strong skating, although Pang/Tong will still have to mess up somewhat for Dube/Davison to have a chance. I was surprised at the score of that young Russian team, I had never heard of them before, their PCS was a bit higher then anything I ever remember Mukhartova/Trankov getting internationaly.

let's not forget that pang/tong are skating to what looks like a masterpiece of romeo and juliet. I have no doubt that they will take the gold easily.

From what I read, the Russian pair (Bazarova-Lorionov) skated clean.

I also read that P&T had a problem on one of their spins.

I hope to see the performances tomorrow.

They did keep the same program. I was refering to people being dissapointed by this particular parformance of it. I absolutely ADORED that program last year, so I was sad to see that some found this particular skate lackluster. Either way, they have time to improve. It's still fairy early in their season. I do hope they have an amazing skate tonight, though. They're keeping the same FS too, I think. It's a beautiful program, and I'd love for them to give Pang/Tong a bit of a scare, even if they do end up second.;)

Congratulatons to Dube and Davidson! A very pleasant surprise! Who coaches them? Is it the same coach who coached Sale and Pelletier?
