parallel podiums

Thanks for this thread, you guys. I don't know my skating lore well enough to play, but this is the most entertaining off-season game we've got going!

Is the "standard move turned into a trademark" the spiral in both cases, or just on the one that Bruin got? Or do we have to rack our brains even further?? :D :D

You have to rack your brains even further, I'm afraid. :D Let me know if you want a clue - I'll have to think of one that doesn't give it away too much.

And Mathman, ITA - this thread is fun! lol

Anyone else got another podium to guess?

More brain-racking!! Aaargh!! OK, so be it... :D

Here's one for some of you hard-core historians to piece together:

Gold: One-time World champion who did not medal at the next, or any, Olympics.
Silver: Two-time Worlds silver medallist whose World title was still in the future.
Bronze: Future Olympic champion.

Darn it, Jonny! that's hard! LOL

Here's one for you die-hard fans. It's a jr worlds one...

1- Would become a multiple-senior world champion
2- will eventually medal at the world championships (both would stand on the podium together)
3- the first man to land 2 quads in one program at the olympics

I thought of a new parellel podium :) (Should be tricky, lol)

Gold - turned a standard move into their trademark
Silver - won two Olympic medals
Bronze - from a former Soviet nation, and performs moves requiring back flexibility
Total guess, but 1986 Worlds?
Boitano - the spreadeagle
Orser - medlaed in 1984 and 1988
Fadeev - process of elimination, because I don't think it's Petrenko and the 1988 worlds

Verrry close. I'll give it to you. :) I was thinking of the 1988 Olympics.
Gold - Boitano (spread eagle)
Silver - Orser (silver in 84 & 88)
Bronze - Petrenko (from Ukraine, and had a great male layback) :D

I´m not sure, but could it be 1985 Worlds?

- Fadeev
- Orser
- Boitano

perfect!

Here's another EASY one (pairs)
1. Olympic champion
2. Russian world champion...known for putting people to sleep, and not much emotion
3. World bronze medalist

Another easy one (ladies- this one happened three times)
1. Finished 8th in the 1994 European championships
2. Found murdered in her apartment
3. Rumored to have been molested by her coach

Actually, this wasn't one of the two that I was thinking of (both of the podiums I had in mind are even older than this), BUT it definitely fits the criteria so I'll give it to you! :)

What about the 2nd one?

You've got 99 Euros, and the Ladies ones correct =) Pair #2 changes in the other parallel podium, and so does the year...
