2025 World Figure Skating Championships Free Dance

Interesting coming from Kirsten M-T Firus, as she and Marinaro were clearly miffed when Eric Radford came back to rep Canada for the 2021-2022 Olympic season with Vanessa James.
She would have been miffed on behalf of Evelyn Walsh and Trennt Michaud, who were second at the Canadian championships but didn't get to go to the Olympics. Michael and Trennt were were very good friends and shared an apartment for many years.

Of course these two pairs teams were and are good friends. That's well known and without a doubt. Michael and Trennt created and hosted Ice Lab podcast together. Of course both teams were upset when Eric Radford partnered with Vanessa James and returned to competition. That's understandable. But that's where character and sportsmanship enter. For e.g., lots of Canadian ice dancers were upset when Virtue/ Moir came back, but they bit their tongues and soldiered on. Some teams retired knowing their chances to go to majors were even more limited with the return of V/M.

The mistake K-MT/M and W/M made was in expecting that their tickets to the 2022 Olympics had already been punched. It was Skate Canada who fully backed Eric & Vanessa repping Canada for Olympics and Worlds in the 2021-22 season. SC was banking on J/R's past individual championship experience with other partners to help solidify SC regaining three pairs spots going forward post-2022 Worlds. Despite the huge challenges J/R faced as new partners in an Olympic season (including COVID recovery hampering them from fully competing at 2022 Cdn Natls), they ultimately fulfilled the hopes SC had invested in them, winning bronze (should have been silver) at 2022 Worlds.

Kirsten may have been miffed for W/M, but she was also upset with the fact that she and Michael might no longer be Canada's #1 pairs team. Instead of gearing up competitively to battle back strongly during the season, K-MT/M and W/M struggled most of the season (until showing up better at Cdn Nat'ls). Kirsten later admitted having faced motivation issues in the first half of the season. Kirsten & Michael also dropped pre-season a program that Eric had choreographed for them. Not a problem doing so, of course. Yet, being so vocal about dropping it b/c they weren't comfortable with it having been choreographed by Eric, was a mistake. Comes off as sour grapes.

Thus, I find it interesting that Kirsten wants to be considered a good teammate who conducted herself with dignity. Surely, she was a good teammate in most instances, but not all. Not when the going got tough.

Barbara Fusar-Poli says that some competitions just don't turn out right, but she's happy about her team's performance.
She is baffled by the outcome but tries to be diplomatic. Judging is part of he sport and one has to be ready.
It's not 100% sure that Guignard/Fabbri are going to keep skating 😲, she says that it's their decision.

I'm wondering if the Italian Fed is going to aim for a Team medal, by sacrificing some pawns in the individual events. 🤔
That dance didnt connect with the crowd nor the judges. And with that very supportive Boston crowd.. you can easily tell which dances hit or dont.. Theirs didnt. F/G did. Frankly it took me all year to accept that dance too. It was a bold move.. I wasnt much for it all year. It was soo.. heartless and for the lack of a beter word.. robotic lol. But in a bad way.

You know who I did think got hosed? Lajoie and Lagha.. Every GOE in that dance was significantly smaller than what it typically is and I cant figure out why. It was so well below what they have skated all year. Ive looked at the score sheets and watched that dance over 2x and I just blatantly disagree with the judges on that dance score they got.
