Plushenko will honour us with his presence in 2010!

well i m from those who prefer watching quads , solid jumps and artistry .. yes janetfan
maybe i stuck in 2002  bows to yagudin as well

as i said plush is full package for me, i m not saying his present programms are perfect.. still interesting tho, but i belive he can bring it all for Olys :agree:

i feel like no metter plush do there will be not enough... that's poor attitude

anyway i m happy to see Plush compiting again  as he said everyone can win Olys

p.s i cannot see superior artistry in Jeremy skating  but if you say so i have no other way just agree :agree:

Sometimes I mention Jeremy - but that is because he is my favorite Men's skater at the moment.

I like Plushy and believe me, Vancouver will be that much better if he is there and healthy. And Lambiel too!

You mentioned Nijinsky - and it is not like Men's skating has never had a supreme balletic skater before. But it is not Plushy - it is this one:

That's kind of a blank statement. No rationale whatsoever regarding your concept of "artistry". Can you explain what you mean by "Artistry"?

Joe you might find it strange but i think the same:), evgeni is not the best at footwork or spins.;) And his new programs I m not a big fan.(plushyta I m still your friend?) But as everyone who likes a specific skater he is my sentimental favorite, like Mao. When he skates I dont care about CoP, I just smile and dream.
You think he can win every competition he enters now just like that?I really dont! As I see some skaters excelling in some areas that he doesnt and he had lost track during years, but I like the idea that he fights for his comeback and for me this is the meaning of a sport, and it is inspiring. I bow to his power of will.

I m just in heaven I can see him again competing, I abandoned dream podiums long time ago, as long as he is not injured and he skates his best, I have many skaters who I will clap on the podium if Plushy is not on there. Does it matter? It mattered for me in 2006, not anymore. I would be happy to see him getting a medal, but I wont be less happy if he just has a good performance in his last Olys. He and Lambiel are my fairytales!
ok, I m not a perfect person, there are some skaters (few, very very few)I dont want to see on podium

That is a very nice post seniorita.

My best wish is that Plushy, Lambiel and Joubert are all healthy and skating their best in Vancouver. I also hope Jeremy, Patrick, Tomas, Dai, Oda, Johnny, and Evan all are healthy and are able to skate their best.

For me, I will be happy for ANY of the three skaters who earn a medal in Vancouver with no exceptions!

i also think Vancouver will be much better if lambiel and plush are there
more guys fighting for gold  making it more exciting..

i mentioned Nijinsky to give an example he is artistic skater
i have never said plush is the one supreme balletic skater but i think he is one of those skaters
thanx for link janetfan that was nice programme of John :p

Joesitz i don't think Jeremy has superior artistry, is that a crime ?
it's useless to explain becouse it goes to nowhere  i think we know it

for me blank suggestion is to say plush has no artistry

:sheesh:

Isn't part of what we see in skating today a result of the new scoring system which is still changing and evolving?

Yes, and No. I agree that CoP doesn't promote the variaty in the artistry and made the skating somewhat look similar. But most of the skaters today don't have the athletic abilities to match the skaters of 2006. That is not CoP's fault. That's what I called the skating going backwards.

I recall hearing that when CoP was being formulated they used Tim Goebel, the "Quad King" as a measuring stick for balancing Tes and Pcs.

I don't know if this is coming out of your mind or it's really a truth?

Is it also true that after the disappointing men's show in Torino that ISU felt a need to adjust CoP more?

So today we are looking at a skating world where many think Quads are not given enough credit and points. Why do you suppose that is? What lead ISU to consider there is more to men's skating than the Quad jump?

Sure, there is more to men's skating than the quad jumps. But with all due respect, if there is NO quad jumps, how can you talk about something more than just a quad jump?!;)

Many think Quads do not get enough points. Others feel than Jeremy's skating is not rewarded enough.

Strangely enough, I feel on both sides. I don't think to reward more on quads has to hurt artistic aspect of a skating. Jeremy's skating isn't rewarded enough in PCS which is subjective marks. That is not the unique problem in CoP.

As to the future of skating I think the fan base will continue to shrink if skating caters only to the taste of screaming girls. I think the future of Men's skating is closer to Jeremy,Tomas and Dai - and the way they can show big jumps with such superior artistry.

That's something that no one does or did better than Yagudin (and Plushenko actually). That was backwards to 2002. I am like lubov27, still stuck and dreamed of Yagudin and Plushenko era.

So Jeremy, Tomas, and Dai are not "the taste of screaming girls"?

Look for Rippon and Brezina to lead the way. And other young skaters on their way up.

I think the day's of Joubert and Plushy will be left behind as skaters need to show more than a few big jumps to keep a growing and diversified fan base.

Sure, when they retired.;)

Seniorita chill, chill.. Look, to make you smile, I've changed my dream podium banner..:laugh:
:

Your "dream banner" is nice. But my gosh, those skaters are the size of young boys or girls .

I bet Caro is taller than all three of them and she is basically a normal size girl here in USA. I had no idea the Euro boys were so tiny. ;)

It has shown clearly that you have nothing better to say except to find any way possible to trash any skaters who are not US skaters.

Yes, it is offensive.

Too many english words to read from my last visit here  :sheesh:

I do not see that Plushy insulted a any skaters, except that which is listed in who's where strong or weak - it is pure and objective analysis

178 cm is not enough for you? You like basketball players? :p

Please, I always thought they were closer to Evan's size. I had no idea they are so little. No big deal - doesn't make them better or worse.

Plushy in particular, I thought he was taller.......but I see he is really quite short.

What about Yagudin? Is he also so small? He always looked bigger when I saw him skate?

Caroline is 158cm, for god's sake! (5'4" in USFA site) Carolina Kostner is 169cm. Plushenko is 178cm. Joubert is 179cm. Lambiel is 175cm. See any difference?!

Evan is the "giraffe" among male skaters. His height is not normal height for male skaters. It's funny that you, a life long skating fan, never knew this?;)

I wish to add to this thread, but have already devoted enough time to this forum today, taking more than my lunch hour! *eek* Will be back later on this evening. :)

I didn't know you had to 6 ft 2 in to be male olympic skater, that would have knocked out Scott Hamilton from competition by over a foot.

P.S . i mean no disrespect to scott and i am aware h suffered from rare illness and his smaller size was because of this illness.

Of course, it is not a crime. Crime is your word - not mine.

I rarely see artistry in figure skating except for a few skaters who happen to be talented and they come from various countries - not just one. I do see excellent presentations as part of the sport, and that is of value.

I thought Plush and Joub are among the tallest, Joub looks even taller than that live! Plushy is on the right height for me to climb and give him a good luck kiss in Rostel
plush40.gif
, so I think he is right about perfect tall;) And since he won there, maybe good luck will work at euros as well!
Uber moment...

girafe, lol! This and the energizer bunny comment have cracked me up these days:laugh:

Caroline is not that tall. She had a growth spurt sure, but she is still small, even for a skater. She is listed as 5"3 and that sounds right, if not on the tall side.
