Practice reports?

Yuna and Daisuke are in great shape, they have the best chance to win! Steph's spin is dazzling as usual, still not sure about his jump quality. It's so funny to see everybody in men's training wears BLACK.

They must be in a depressing mood or ticked off at something

The website we are not allowed to mention says Johnny has a minor foot problem. Whether or not that problem was the cause of his two falls during today's practice, I can't say. I also heard that Johnny was practicing quad salchows today.

Maybe it's just me, but Mao's spins look much faster!

I feel that Mao's spins got faster than the last season. I don't know if she did from the TEB though.

I always feel kind of "wow" to see how skinny she is whenever I see her in a black practice outfit.

Also I am impressed to see how elegantly both Yuna and Mao dance on ice. In these practice videos, they wear simple outfits and are sometimes dancing without music. Then the beauty of each move just stands out by itself.

BTW, I felt excited when I could catch some of the words in Korean in this video, like "Grand Prix Final," "Kim Yu-na,""Asada Mao," "Figure Skating," and "Italy" (Too simple?:p)

Bennett, You're so cute!!:laugh::laugh:
BTW we say Italy 'Italia' which I don't get at all. It sounds like a cheap italian restaurant.

From what I've seen from some practice clips, both Yuna and Mao are in good shape and it seems Mao is going for another triple-triple in her FS.

I hope they both skate great.
That said, I wish all the ladies skate their best!!:clap:
(It would be so cool to see some upsets!!)

Here's a clip of Mao and Yu-na at practice. Yu-na lands a 3/2 as part of her program. Then Mao is shown landing 3 beautiful 3A's! She does them so effortlessly, they look like 2A's!:love:

If she really skates a clean program including a 3A and two 3-3's, then she should go home with the gold medal.

Thanks for the practice reports.

We have an amazing crop of young skaters who are meeting the challenges of CoP, where one has to crowd in as many high difficulty moves as possible, as quickly as possible.

I am remembering my favorite skater, Alexei Yagudin, at practices. He would usually not do much jumping in the practices before a competition. He would just run through his music, practicing the body language, etc., and sometimes, he would not attend a practice at all, and they would just play his music, while some other skaters took the ice and practiced their programs. Over the years, I noticed that too often, other skaters would leave their best efforts on the practice ice, and then be a little burnt out when the time came for the competition performance. I always felt that one of the secrets of Alexei's greatness was that he saved his emotional and physical energy for the actual moment of rivalry, then let it burst forth like a flower in bloom.

Yeah, how about those amazing 4S's Miki was landing before NHK!

But I hope you're wrong, or at least wrong about Mao, and right about Johnny. I hope Mao will skate as well as she's doing in practice, and Johnny to skate much better than in practice. ;)
