Predictions?

i have the bad feeling that the judges will put V/M over D/S...i hope i am wrong

I honestly don't think that the judges will put anyone over anyone else. I think that the best team on the day will win. The predictions that I made earlier in the thread were made before the GP season started, so I have to change some things. I'll admit, I wouldn't be surprised to se V/M come out on top, and fairly. I agree with an earlier post that says they wont win the CD, but by the FD I would expect them to be first. And ITA with the poster who said that D/S should have been on the world podium the loast two seasons. Of course, JMO. I also have to cange my pairs predictions, and put the Germans ag-head of D/D. They were not on the list when I made my initial prediction.
And i am saying that V/M could not still match the skating skills of the best technical couple in the world!! A couple who is fighting for the medals since how many now-4,5,6 years!??!! And i really think that D/S has the better OD and FD!! Spilband could not match the choreo of Zazoui... So if judge fairly(with clean performances) D/S should win NHK
I wish them all the luck...this should be their golden year :)

Whoa. All this late news for me. Still an easy win for Ando. I think Mai has a nice style but I don't think she is as competitive as Meier, Kostner, and Poykio. Well, we'll see.

What I wonder is why can't the JSF send Akiko Suzuki to the GP..? Does she not qualify yet?
She won the Winter Universiade last year, and her score at Zagreb this year was higher than Caroline's scores at SA and CoC. While the scores between competitions cannot be compared, it still speaks of something. She is fairly consistent, has superb footwork and does not flutz. She could use a better combo in LP and faster spins, but IMHO after Mao, Miki and Yukari she is the best Japanese lady this season.

But how? Placements are so important here for the points to win over or tie Zhang.

Joe

That's the point! And that's why it is going to be exciting. Will Meier fight after her 4th place in France? Will Kostner pull it up, considering she wants to be in the final in her home country? Will Ando show the same lack of condition and motivation she had at SA?

Wow, can't wait for the ladies' results of CoR to know more! I just hope it's not going to be 4 skaters with tie break...

I really believe that V&M will be ahead of D&S - perhaps not at first, but by the final standings V&M will be on top of the podium if they skate like they did at Skate Canada.

I hope I'm right!

i hope you're not :chorus:

Just wondering if Miki Ando would do a quad. If she wants to try, this would be the place.

Japan DOES have a competitive Pairs team, Takahashi and Tran, who competed in the JGP this season. They had a respectable 6th place finish (out of 11 teams) at JGP Germany. Pairs is the only discipline that is allowed to compete at both JGP and GP, and they don't have to be on the Seasons Best list because they could legitimately compete at NHK as a host selection.

I have been wondering why Japan didn't use them as a replacement for the vacancy left by the withdrawal of Vartmann/Just. Maybe it's because they don't want their team to finish last, but I think T/T have an excellent chance of beating the Polish team Piatkowska/Khromin.

Japan had a pair team that competed on the JGP circut this year. Narumi Takahashi and Mervin Tran. Scores were 108.something and 113.point something. He is a Canadian who was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and she was born in Chiba, Japan. They are currently training in Montreal with coaches Richard Gautier and Julie Marcotte. :)

*sigh* be realistic...
haha
i know...how....ARGH
but we all know D/S should've medaled in the past few worlds and in olympics!

*patiently waiting for opposers*
While I love both teams, I hope for D/S to win, simply because I find their free dance to be more beautiful than V/M. I like V/M's free dance, but I find their music (I've never been a fan of Umbrellas of Cherbourg) to be kinda whiney and just outright depressing. Catherine Deneuve's singing scream of, "Je t'aaaaaaaaaime!" in the middle of their dance doesn't help it for me.

They just competed at Junior Nationals in Japan this week, so they could have been invited to the GP. It's too bad if Japan doesn't give them the opportunity.

I would not be surprised to see K/N 1st or 2nd here as that is where they need to finish for Rus to have a shot at 2 medals come worlds. And that is how it is being set up at this point. I feel sorry for Davis/White - they seem to be the team that is being lost in all of this. It seems by the GP results this season that we are back to the days of Rus and French going for the medals with an outside team being given a medal once in a while.

That would depend on the makeup of the judging panel. Have they managed to load it again?
