US Nationals are coming up. They include US Junior Nationals (Juvenile and Intermediates) as well as Novices and Juniors.

And Ice Network will be broadcasting these events for younger kids.

I hope you will use this thread to tell us about any great up and coming youngsters you see!

My favorite youngster, Lily Sun, just missed making nationals in the Novice division this year. She finished fifth in the Pacific Coast Sectionals. Ice Network has video of most all the regional and sectional competitions. It really is fun to take a peek at these occasionally. For those who have IN, here's the link for Lily's free skate. She starts at about the 59:35 mark. http://web.icenetwork.com/video/v36976537/?event=2015_pc_sectionals

LP - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKxtkRklFKY (this her LP fot this year...just checked back)

Emmy Ma (Novice)
SP - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gW5sSQ_OGI
LP - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKtEw5OtDXQ

A recent discovery from my late YT browsing during Christmas break. She seems very musical to me and she has one of my fave fs dresses this season.

I will try to list more skaters!

One more thing, I actually didn't checked whether the skaters that I listed were able to go to US Nats. Woops. Do try to watch these youngsters' programs :)

I watched Alexia Paganini, and I was pleasantly surprised: she has more transitions than most of the top skaters between her elements!

Just watched both Emmy's short and long programs and she's so lovely! I like her SP more, and her SP costume is gorgeous as well. I just checked Eastern sectionals results and she popped her 2A in the long and didn't make it to Nationals after being 2nd in the SP :( but Alexia won, so we will see her at Nationals. I need to watch Alexia later.

Juvenile Talents

I didn't know where else to post this, so here. :)

To start off, I only just found out about the FD from juvenile dance team Elizabeth Tkachenko & Alexei Kiliakov (born 2006/2005) to Ghostbusters, last year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCfo4gppg78
They came in 5th then. Right now they're in first after the pattern dances! Really looking forward to see their progress.

Please post about the juvenile talents, link to videos etc! I love finding out about them so I'd love to see more.

I was out most of the day but got back in time to see the Juvie Men and was impressed by leadoff skater Joseph Kang who had both jumps and musicality, and by Henry Privett-Mendoza, who had a smoothly artistic style. At the halfway point, they are a close 1-2 (Kang/Privett-Mendoza)

Andrew Torgashev's programs at US Nationals:

An article about his win, as well as the other junior men who medaled:

I absolutely love this kid. He has such style already at 13. And as an American who loves Russian skating, it's very exciting to me that there are 2 talented young men with Russian backgrounds & training now skating for the US. I do think Andrew is on another level from Aleksei (at least for now), but I like both of them. And they both skated to Plushenko's music.

No one mentioned Tessa Hong who missed nationals because she had an incident at one of her qualifying events. I can't find the page now, but she recently took a test skate for the junior level. I've been meaning to ask for a while if anyone knew if she was 2018 eligible or not.

She was 11 when she won US Nationals at the Intermediate level last season. So she would be cutting it close. She has to be 15 before (not on) July 1 2017.

Torgashev's new website:

Unseen skaters is a really great website! Did anyone watch for Intermediate top 10 girls especially top 5-6 are promising.

Wow, he is so articulate and composed for his age. I really like Andrew and look forward to seeing him grow next season!

Tom Z has posted an eight-second video of Tessa Hong on his home page. (She is performing a step-sequence exercise.)

Has she been known to be one of TZ's students in the past?
Or is he dropping a hint that she is a new member of Team TZ?

eta: BTW, Tessa Hong is included on the list of skaters announced as entries in the new Aerial Challenge jump comp at the Broadmoor Open this year.
