Just started to dabble in Adobe Premiere and decided to create in-depth supplemental videos that break down the detailed judges scores alongside notable programs. I'm looking for any feedback - whether it's too detailed or not detailed enough, or even whether it's something WORTH doing, lol.

Here's an example of one of the videos:

I found it a very interesting way to watch the program. However, I found the small red font in the element list, when used for numbers, to be illegible on my tablet. How about having the numbers stay white on black and change the color of the element only? Lots of people have varying levels of red/green color blindness.

Very good point! I noticed that as well when trying to view the video on my phone. By "change the color of the element only", do you mean the element in the lower-left hand corner?

3Lz. -3

change the color of the 3Lz, not the -3

When the red font "bleeds" or "blurs," I could make out what 3Lz was, but could not read -3

If you changed just the color of the skill, you would still be conveying the same info, but it would be more legible, as

3Lz -3

Great work draqq.

My suggestion is to let the scores stay in view longer, perhaps till closer to the next element. Right now, they are just a flash on screen and gone.

Ah, I see. I think I can do that, though if the next element is back-to-back, the GOEs will still disappear quite fast....... unless I conceptualize things differently.

Oh, I see what you mean. I was going for separate information there. If the element is red, then that means the base value of that element decreased, either because of a <, e, invalid element, or a pop. But perhaps I can just make everything in the element list white on black just to make things legible.

Thanks again, dorispulaski and Violet Bliss, for your feedback. I've added another video in the Protocolled series with your suggestions in mind - extended the GOEs an additional 5 seconds where applicable, made the element list white on black, and generally gave more time for widgets to appear. =D

I decided to take a second look at the Protocolled series and have chosen to redesign the concept. I felt that after doing a few of the existing videos that there's a bit too much information, too many numbers on the screen, just cluttered. Also, I figure that most people want to watch videos in full screen without having a black border around the video.

On top of that, I've always felt as though the ISU's point tracker for the leader/current technical score doesn't really do enough, so I thought it was a good opportunity to produce a custom widget to replace it. I incorporated elements from the tracker that the US Nationals/NBC use, but being more specific with GOEs and PCS scores. You can check it out below - I used Javier Fernandez's short program at the 2015 GPF. Tell me what you think!

i know everyone is different... but i preferred the style used for Nathan's....

I think what I would change though is this :

on the right side :
I would use elements all in white.... if you need to put a carrot of a * for invalid... that's fine.... I wouldn't use colour at all but only to reflect a fall (red)

You can play with green and red for scores given by individual judges.. i thought that was very fun... (at the bottom) but i'd keep the right side list clearer....

I thought it was confusing for instance when you had a fallen jump in RED... and then.... a 3f-2t-2t in red as well... of course there was a zayak.. but at the same time, the element was well executed and with positive GOE...

anyways... i am perhaps suggesting tweaks for nothing since you opted for the corner ticker.... keep in mind though that some broadcasters use the corner ticker for TES so if you are editing some videos, you may have two conflicting tickers.

Thanks for the awesome feedback! Really appreciate it! :D

With your comments, I've decided to try enhancing the ticker to record the judges score. I'll try hiding the official ISU ticker when I can with my own. Hopefully it won't block too much of the skater's movements, but it's better than having two tickers going; that would be a LOT of info on the screen.

Here's a test-run of it using Jason Brown's SP at Lombardia!

yup!!! i really liked that style.

it's nice to see how judges saw each element.

at the end, all elements could be shown on the right side like in the Chen video for a recapitulation of the programs... but i am thinking more here about ice dance for instance, where levels make a huge difference.... for men/ladies SP, i think we can remember easily who did what ;) for LP it may be perhaps a nice feature.

But honestly, I think that your idea is a very good one and would be extremely helpful in teaching COP to people who only watch at the olympics. Thank you!

PS I liked how the "final" score would be green if the element was performed with + GOE and red with - GOE. I think that's very important.

I could, in the future, add the complete list of technical elements. It would work similar to how the US Nationals does it by expanding the ticker toward the bottom and showing every element. We'll see! :D
