Just saw this link to a nice story in the Baltimore Sun about the two top US Jr ice dance teams, Michael & Rachel Parsons and their training mates Lorraine McNamara & Quinn Carpenter, and how they get along so well even at high-pressure competitions like Junior Worlds. Fun to see two sets of top-level competitors with the maturity to support each other and maintain their friendship throughout. I find all four of these young rising stars to be quite remarkable.

Excited to see Rachel & Michael debut their new programs this week at the Lake Placid International! Also looking forward to JGP assignments. They are definitely staying junior one more year.

Lest anyone wonder:
The SD video above originally was a "listed" video on the YT channel -- as were all the other SD videos at the link from the Lake Placid thread.
The owner of the YT channel later changed all the SD videos to "unlisted" (with the exception of Min/Gamelin).

Literally I was thinking a while ago, "The Parsons and M/C seem like they would be able to do hip-hop well."

Love the hip-hop in their short dance, and their free this year, which made even the announcer "misty" at Lake Placid if you listen to the end of the video. They looked amazing for this early in the season. So looking forward to watching the JGP in Yokohama Japan. Go Rachel & Michael! I have a good feeling about them this year.

The Parsons will skate 3rd, right after the French team and right before one of the Russian teams. USA training mates Gunter & Wein skate last. The live feed on YouTube will be starting around 2:30 in the morning EST. Ouch!

Great short dance in Yokohama! Congrats to the Parsons for another 1st place finish and a great score for early in the season. They really got the crowd behind them. Fun program this year, very fast and sharp, and amazing edges. Here's the video:

What a great performance today in the Free Dance. Have already watched it over and over and think this is their best program yet. Even with a small mistake that cost them a level, still highest score this season in the JGP circuit. Imagine how good this can be by the end of the season. Just stunning! Big things are coming for this team.

I stayed up to watch the SP and ended up not sleeping until 4 am. But I realized after sill being awake at 1:30 am (EST), that there was no way I was going to be able to wake up in time to watch it....sigh......

the ONLY REASON I decided to stay up till close to 3 early Saturday morning was to watch them do their SD.

Love this team! Hands down my favorite dances of the season...Michael fab as usual and Rachael is skating with a confidence and joy that is awesome to watch. Hope they can take the JR title in January!
