Random Figure Skating Questions

Curious, when a skater is at a competition, lets say Ashley at worlds wanted to watch the men skate or the pairs or ice dance, does she have to pay full price? Or do they get to watch for free?

No idea, but I would think that federations would buy blocks of tickets so that their skaters can go cheer on their teammates when they are not busy with their own event.

Here's a random question for someone who might know. During the 2010/2011 season. Armin Mahbanoozadeh skated to songs from the movie Avatar. However, when I look for them on youtube, I can't find his music anywhere. Do you know which songs Armin used for his Avatar FP? Thanks in advance.

A lot of skaters (as with many fans) tend to grab any empty seats they can find. For example, a few weeks ago at Worlds, I saw Helgesson & Gjersem sit near me in empty seats, only to eventually get booted out shortly afterwards when the original ticket-holders arrived -- twice! After a couple times of being displaced and moving around, they left my field of vision, so not sure where they ended up.

There was also a club section that always seemed to be packed with skaters -- Pogorilaya, Tyler Pierce, Nathan Chen, Amber Glenn, etc.

The Team event format is based on a competition consisting of up to ten (10) best national teams from NOCs/ISU Members. In each team one (1) skater from the Men Single Skating event, one (1) skater from the Ladies Single Skating event, one (1) Pair Skating couple and one (1) Ice Dance couple, i.e. a total of six (6) skaters per Team, will compete (hereafter called the Team(s)).

It seems that one skater/pair has to do both SP/SD and FS/FD at the olympics team event in 2018. If so then this is a bad move by ISU.

The 2018 OWG document spells out the same allowance for substitutions as 2014.

Don't see the point of your cross-posting in this thread. (One of my pet peeves.)

In any case, sk8herd has given a full reply to your nearly-identical post in the PyeongChang thread.

Didn't know about the other thread at the time of posting it here since I don't visit The Edge. Didn't bother deleting it here after noticing the other thread by accident.

Oh, I see. Sorry that I hadn't caught the chronology. Incorrectly assumed that the sequence was the other way around.

Anyway, I am glad that the full answer is in the other thread, b/c I believe that those interested in the OWG are more likely to see it over there.

On another note, thanks for opening my eyes that some people generally do not visit The Edge. Nothing wrong with not visiting, of course. Helps me understand why sometimes there are very long parallel discussions taking place both in The Edge and in a comp thread or fan thread.
You answered a stupid question that I hadn't even realized that I had ;).

That was exactly what I've been looking for. Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You...........:thank:

This is very stupid and maybe already discussed somewhere else (in that case I apologize):
Since it seems that Lauriault/Le Gac are indeed married, I wonder whether they are the first married skaters to compete together at junior competitions/junior worlds...does anybody know?

I'm really curious about who is the commentator for the GPF in Barcelona and European championships this year. ;)

I hope there is some interview about him in any language as Google tool is quite useful. His presence stood out, didn't it?

This could be an old story though why people say Gracie was not born blond? Pictures from her young age show her hair color was always bright.

I think most people do not question that Gracie was born blonde.

But I am among those who would say that Gracie no longer is naturally blonde.
She once was (past tense) naturally blonde, but in adulthood, she no longer is (present tense) naturally blonde. (The same phenomenon of hair color getting darker with age is true for many who were born blonde.)

In adulthood, Gracie often has been seen with dark roots, and her eyebrows usually are dark.
I think it is safe to assume that if she did not artificially lighten her hair at this point, it would not be blonde.

(IMO, nothing wrong with artificially changing one's hair color, BTW.)

That really makes sense, golden411. And thank you so much for cute pictures of Gracie, Mathman.
Already don't remember what was the original hair color of Ahley or Adam...

Adam's golden locks as a kid are hard to forget, but probably now he would be dark blonde/light brown (not that different from Gracie).... Ashley I think wouldn't be much different from her current colour (maybe not as red), but I am not totally sure, she looks stunning with her currently hair color...I hope she doesn't change it
