It looks to me like someone just forgot to archivise results from that year as there are external links to all other seasons, but not this one. I found article about Brits for that season, but the external link for results doesn't work :(

These questions are far too intelligent to be listed as stupid questions.............Fortunately, I have arrived with a truly stupid question.

Can Selena Gomez, Sing?? Selena just had a concert here in the Fresno/Clovis area and some of my former students went and they said the following. She's a really good performer but, she can't sing. I kind of laughed until one of them played a short video that she had taken with her phone. She was singing that song "If You're Ready, Come And Get It" I think that's what it's called, and then it go's "Na Na Na, Na Na Na" It was as if she had lost her on stage Monitors.

I have to wonder if she was sick or maybe just exhausted from so much touring. In any case, she just didn't sound good at all. Here's my next question. Would you rather she lip synched than sounded bad??

To be honest? No. She lacks proper breath support and coordination to properly project and none of her vocal registers are particularly developed to be of note. I was actually floored when I heard Stevie Mackey was her vocal coach. Stevie Mackey is actually good and has produced good students (JoJo for example) but then you have Selena...

And as for lipsyncing or sounding bad it doesn't matter to me, if her fans paid hundreds of dollars to see her then she should sing live and take care of her voice properly. Celine Dion at her peak had to perform a lot and to preserve her voice she would not speak for a couple of days at a time and she can still sing today even though she's older.

Miley Cyrus can really sing. I've been fortunate enough to hear her in person prior to an event.

First.....I love that you mentioned JoJo. I remember hearing for the first time and really liking her voice. She was actually being compared to Lindsay Lohan and when I heard her sing, my reaction was......Lindsay wishes she sounded that good.

Completely True!!!!!!!!!!! Miley does not belong in a discussion about performers without talent. Bad costuming choices........Maybe. I had a friend who worked on Hannah Montana and I was there when they did a taping. Even though they would eventually dub her voice over for TV, Miley would actually sing her songs for the audience and she has Skills!!!!! I'll look for the episode. BRB

Here you go. It's the episode when she tries out for cheerleading but only makes Mascot. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KW7X7U1h69k

She's alright, her mixed register is very scream-y though, high larynx with a tight throat, moderate support. But her lower register is nicely developed and supported, it's a register many female singers tend to neglect because people like hearing the high notes. I rate her okay.

JoJo, used to be only okay but after she faded a bit into obscurity after battling it out with her label/company she got really good, there's lot of videos of her performing at small events now on youtube and she's just fantastic. Also considering her age wise, she hasn't yet reached "vocal prime age", she could get even better.

And there's not much to say that I haven't already said, very easy singing lines and her throat should be more open and she lacks proper support. But not all singers sing well on the spot, it's only 10 seconds. An example of "good" on the spot is Miley's first couple of seconds of singing in this video since Sam mentioned her. She's not some shining beacon of technical skill but listen to how much more forward and rounded her tone is. It's more supported and it sounds nice.

Since we're on this subject. I can tell you about a teen singer that I actually had the chance see, and meet when I was living in LA. Older members, I'm sure you remember Tiffany. I saw her after her fame had died down a bit and she was singing at a lounge in Studio City which is right by Universal Studios Hollywood. She had short hair that she had dyed dark brown and she looked absolutely beautiful.

She sang hits from the 40's - 60's before doing her her hits which included "I Think We're Alone Now" and she was fantastic.

Thank you both for your help. You are both stars! :cheer:   :party2: :points:

And so good to see another local name amongst the podium finishers for that year as well - Karla Quinn (bronze medal in Junior Ladies)

I have just updated the page.

Thank you again so much! :thank:

Not really. It's just a stop. It does take considerable balance and strength to achieve, but it doesn't have a special name I don't think.

Has anybody staked to Rimsky-Korsakov's Song of India from Sadko?
How about Nielsen's Aladdin Oriental Festive March?
Or Tchaikovsky's Valse Sentimentale?
I think these will all make great short programs. :) First two wouldn't even require a lot of music edit!

Torvill & Dean did their Technical Program in 1984 in the World Pros to Rimsky-Korsakov's Song of India from Sadko.

 I love this program!!

They won BTW.

Alisa Fedichkina used Tchaikovsky's Valse Sentimentale for her SP this last season:

Thanks, dorispulaski!
I love Torvill and Dean's program too. :D
As for Fedichkina, its mood is not exactly what I had in my mind with that waltz, but still nice to see a program done with that piece!

Canadian's, It's question time again. I've already asked you all what you think of Drake. He is someone I had never heard of until I read a story about him being seen with my Tennis Wife. Serena Williams. There were rumors that Drake and Serena were dating but I never found any confirmation so I moved on.

Then, I hear that Drake was on the Canadian version of 90201. I guess it was called "Degrassi" so, I look it up on Youtube and Drake is in a Wheel Chair. I know this is old news but, how does his character end up Paralyzed?? Thanks in advanced.

OK, since I didn't an answer from GS Members, I finally emailed one of my former students and here's what she said. "Drakes Character Was Shot!" How Dramatic :drama:

Can someone provide a link that explains how skaters qualify for the GP Series? I'm familiar with the seeding and the WC aspect of it for the most part but I'm always looking for a link that explains the full details. Honestly year after year it seems like people seem confused about the selections. If there isn't a link somewhere maybe we could create a thread that explains the process right here at GS. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Well, there's last season announcement: http://static.isu.org/media/209550/gp-general-announcement-2015_16_final.pdf
I'm not sure if it's always the same or they do little updates...
