Oh Canada...........I have another question for you. I really love tennis and it's the only sport I was ever good at before I went on the road as a dancer. Is Eugenie Bouchard popular in Canada? I just saw a feature about her on the Tennis Channel and other than the fact she seems to have a crush on Justin Bieber :scowl:. She seems like a smart and talented young woman.
I can answer you that question too, if I may do so

as I go to most of the WTA tourneys and slams.
Genie when I spoke to her, mentioned that it can be hard to walk on the street, as Canadians are very enthusiastic and fanatic about their idols. Selfies, autographs it´s all there and she was also crowned the Canadian athlete of the year (Bobbie Rosenfeld Award) in 2014, when she was playing incredible tennis and reached the Wimbledon final + the semi´s at Paris and Melbourne.
There has also been a "Genie Army" movement as of late, usually colleague students dressed up in maple leaf colors to support her, they are similar to the Fanatics fan scene that followed Lleyton & co.
In Toronto (Rogers Cup), most people only came for their Genie - it was an incredible atmosphere when she played Bencic - goose bumps everywhere, but she lost and Belinda silenced the crowd. That said, there are also a lot of people who really hate Genie - but I will not write about this further, as I find it disrespectful towards an athlete to act as they do. No podium for the haters, as I always say
Right now Genie is having some serious problems with her form and a concussion she suffers from since the US Open when she slipped. If you would had seen her the day after, I don't know - it just was heartbreaking
She is very talented indeed, but she must get back her confidence and focus on the game again. If you step on court, then because you want to play this game, you must have fun hitting the ball and this feeling she must find again.
I have a question about Fan Fests. Do the skaters actually look at them?
For privacy reasons no names, but yes I know of several who read the forum.
