Renata & Mark at Junior Worlds I

From my report,

Third came our race drivers from the Ukraine, Renata Oganesian and Mark Bardei with 59.30 points. Personally, I think that both the Russians and Ukrainian's suffered a little bit, for their starting number, something that reflects in their PC´s and again, it´s unnecessary if you ask me. That being said, both pairs lost out also in TES.

As for Renata and Mark, their twist is breathtaking, the best we saw today and I so love their outfits, great in character and a super landing by her at the Sal Throw too, full of confidence, making it look so easy. In general, their program was performed really on top today, the super high risk stuff, at the more energetic first phrase of the soundtrack and the pair spin, perfectly placed at the more quieter piece of music, making space for the last acceleration and their no touch sequence. Said step sequence, offered great distance travelled, good use of the more uplifting part of music too, but sadly it was just a level one today, which cost them the second place and a closer gap to the Czech couple.

Well unfortunately they weren't as good today. No fall but many small mistakes.
Only 95.78 points, 4th place in the free and overall.

They must be disappointed but a 4th place at their second junior world is a good result!
That also mean Ukraine has two spots for next year.

Renata & Mark Junior Worlds II

Sadly, it didn't go that well today, but they need to stay focused, there is much more possible in future! The short is amazing and the idea behind the vampire program is lovely too. They just couldn't execute their elements today, but this will be fixed next time, I am sure of that!

From my report,

It was quite a tough day for some skaters, Renata and Mark unable to hold their third position, in an overall very tight looking "interview with the vampire". The lovely couple that convinced with so much confidence and speed on day one, sadly showed a few nerves today, as they made a lot of mistakes and after the low catch on their trademark element, the triple twist, a few double footed landings and the loss of their double Axel – double Axel combination, just the 4th spot was given, with only 95.78 points in the free and a combined total of 155.08.

That being said, they are highly talented and still have so much time to progress, they will go their way and they don´t mind taking a few risks either, so a potentially high score is there.

They are lovely pair, with big elements, as long they won't end up being complete headcases, they will be fine in the future ;)

Well they were back today at Tallin JGP. Unfortunately the outcome is a bit disappointing with a 6th place after the short program.
That said, Renata suffered an ankle injury last month. They only did a throw 2T (they usually do a 3LTh) so she's probably still recovering from it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TSp3fYj1So

It's sad they're not in a good disposition, especially since their next event is next wekend, so no time to improve :( I guess no JGPF for them this time. On the other hand they will have time to properly recover :)

She also seems to have hit puberty. He's really tall so hopefully it won't be a long term issue but right now, I can see it affecting the timing of elements.

Yes she grew up quite a lot since last year and it has affected their jumps. But they have a good overall technique so I'm hopeful that they will be fine in the long term.
