Returning adult skater looking for boot/blade advice!

Hi, I'm the person who posted about having accidentally left my Jackson Mystiques in the garage for at least five years 😅 They're definitely breaking down a lot in between each use in a frightening way, so I'm looking for some advice on replacing them!

I've skated recreationally since I was very young, never seriously. Would love to go back to LTS as an adult––I don't have real ambitions here, I'd just like to safely skate about once a week for fun/fitness. I'm chronically ill and have zero desire to jump or do any serious spins, nothing particularly risky! When I was fitted for the Mystiques, height and weight were never brought up, so I didn't realize that adult skaters had unique needs until I was trying to figure out if my Mystiques were ruined in the last few weeks 😅

I'm 5'10", 170lb, and wear a US women's 11 in regular shoes. Because of a slight bunion caused by weakness in the muscle on one side, I wear barefoot-style shoes year round to be pain-free. The were Jackson Mystiques in 9.5 C width––I suspect I chose the Jacksons because of the wider toe box, as wearing barefoot-style shoes long-term can kind of "widen" your feet over time. According to the chart, I have Greek-shaped feet. My arches are normal, but perhaps just sensitive? I've historically found arch support painful. I'm not sure what the consensus is on arch support with Jackson, but the Mystiques didn't hurt my arches.

I live near Charlotte, NC, but am not able to travel very far because of how difficult being in the car can be on my body, even day trips are prohibitively taxing––I know this will limit my options of accessing actually good fitters by a lot. :(

Thanks so much in advance!!!!!!!

I don't know your particular issue, but you do know that some cars have much smoother rides than others, right?

And depending on the route, you may be able to stop several times on the way, to get out and stretch.

Hi and welcome! With your stats, a Jackson would work but you would need a much stiffer boot than your level. Jackson Synergy Ignite would be proper stiffness level for your height/weight. Since you don't want to jump you may be able to get away with something like the Jackson Synergy Spark. Jackson Supreme Pro or Premiere 2850 could also work. Another brand you may want to look at as well is Graf: The Richmond Special or F4000 could work. They may need to special order you a larger width, but it's not a big deal to do so.

With whichever boot works for you, you'll need a blade to go with it. You'd be fine with an Ultima Aspire XP or Mirage.

As far as shops in the Charlotte Area: Try here first, but be aware you have to call and make an appointment to be seen by them.
There's also Redmond's Corner.

Good luck!
