Nice guess : it could have worked but I am looking for someone who won a big event but failed to win the events they had at home that year...

I told the story many times.. but i was SO ANGRY Patrick won
I was a Jeff hardcore fan.. sublime skating skills... the kid was good.. but you know... when you love a skater for so long... and he's won an olympic medal and you hope he will win at home in 2010.. and some new kid shows up... but then, losing to Patrick may have helped in the end as he won worlds that year... unfortunately or fortunately, we will never know, he retired... didn't compete in Vancouver, which he could have won considering the winner didn't include a quad... and Patrick was injured..
but yeah... I was smart enough to give Patrick a chance
and from Jeff, I moved on pretty swiftly to Patrick moving from Patrick to skater X is proving to be a bit more difficult... so I just have many faves now

Evgeni Krasnopolski? He had seven partners, placed 5th in 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy, skated singles and pairs, was at Junior Worlds 4 times...and a lot of the other things add up too, just too lazy to type them all out now
