Has anyone background info about the barrier advertisements? Are they rented long-term for a certain time in this rink or specifically for this event? I am surprised to see a company like Mercedes-Benz(!) advertising at a russian junior nationals.

Why not? Merc is very popular in Russia..particularly in skating circles. Trankov's daughter used to have a mini-version for her to 'drive' in. Ad money is always welcome, I suppose.

Still I am surprised that Merc might consider junior nats important enough to spend the money. The viewing numbers are now ~10% of senior nats. Maybe for ladies or pairs they will get a bit higher. That's why I asked if this is an investment specifically for this event or part of a bigger overall sponsorship deal.

I think there's an overall deal going on. The German car industry is well represented in Russia. Olympians who do well are presented with a Merc (or at least used to in the past).

Basically yes, and I already have a VPN on my phone. But we'll see how the stream works with the last group. I do prefer the bigger screen.
