Russian Qualifiers and other important competitions

I hope Alina Solovieva gets a JGPF next year. I really enjoyed her skating. She is a bit inconsistent but she is young and has done well this season. Too bad about the fall in her last jump in an otherwise great program.

Iuschenko was 7th at JrNats, Kaiumova 14th. It is not enough to earn Team Russia spot.
They try to do this at "second nationals".

Since Iuschenko didn't qualify at this event either what will happen to her? This late in the season what does getting a Team Russia spot mean? Is it something for next season?

I guess Yushenko's career and Kayumova's career will go the same way as as Gerasimova, Titushkina, and Stavitskaya. They will either gradually stop skating, or disappear within Russian ranks similarly to what happened to Korobeynikoa and Shershak. If the Russian Federation doesn't have anyone to send (either to junior or to senior event) they will be the skaters on stand by, like it happened to Stavitskaya that she was a last minute replacement at home GP event. Bur if they have someone better, Yushenko and Kayumova won't be sent.

I am curious whether they are going to be treated the same, or how much emphasis the Russian Federation give this second junior nationals.

During the GP events Kayumova was slightly better than Yushenko, but not really significantly. Kayumova 5th and 3rd at JGP, Yushchenko 5th and 5th at JGP.
At senior nationals Kayumova was slightly better than Yushenko, but again not really significantly. Kayumova 15th, Yushchenko 16th
At junior nationals Yushenko was significantly better than Kayumova. Yushenko 7th, Kayumova 14th.
Now at second junior nationals Yushenko did not even qualify for those nationals. Kayumova qualified (but we don't know yet where she will place).

It seems that senior events will be very packed next season. So their best chance is to remain in juniors. there will be 14 spots for JGP and I guess Tsurskaya and Proklova (if she stays in juniors) have their two spots each certain. So that leaves 10 spots to be given to those:

Newly eligible: Feditchkina, Mikhailova, Mitrofanova, Alina Soloviova.

Newly eligible who in the past had some good results but haven't been seen recently: Sofia Istomnina, Alexandra Fomina;

Newly eligible who in the past had some good results but struggle now: Bezrukova and Drinkina

Eligible already this current season: Kolomiets, Yushenko, Kayumova and possibly again Pervushkina

That's quite a few candidates. I suppose there will be again some monitoring test skates in the summer and they will probably base it on their level at that time.

I'm very sorry especially for Yushenko. She is a beautiful skater with lovely presentation, just not so good and consistent as the other russian girls. But she is still very good skater and many countries would be happy to have a skater like her. But Russia is different so Liza will probably never compete at the Europeans and Worlds :(

She could always try to switch. There is a number of countries who would gladly grab her. The question is whether her skating would deteriorate similar to Ovcharova and Shelepen after they switched? Is there any recent success story of ladies skating switching and then doing well? I know there were successful men, Rigini doesn't do that bad for example, but I can't think of any lady.

Hanca, Alina Solovieva was at this competition and was 3rd. She won her only Russian Cup event, which is why I think she wasn't at junior nationals. In my opinion, she should get a JGPF event...

Thank you. I corrected my post :) I want to see again the new crop of talented young Russians. Although I do feel sorry for Yuschenko, Kayumova and Pervushkina, I feel that they had their chance, so I would prefer the new ones getting their chance. Maybe they could try to switch discipline? Not sure ho tall they are though.
