(confused why they didn't let him just do senior GPs - but tbh he can probably contend for the junior WC title this season, so fine by me, will see him at Milan).

He can only get a host spot, since he’s got no international rating. He was out of proper competition for a while during his teens due to his knee problem (he has the same thing as Samsonov).
Maybe initially they thought he’d be better doing JGP series first, but now he’s out of it.
Since he’s out of JGP, I assume they decided to give him that host spot.
