Russian Test Skates 2014

Today may be when the athletes are supposed to arrive. Kosygina, who with Moroshkin is based in Togliatti, took pics at an airport a few hours ago, so they are only arriving today. Sinitsina and Katsalapov were still in Detroit as of yesterday evening. They could be flying out this afternoon and arriving tomorrow morning though but that's cutting it close.

When Morozov trained in the US, his skaters had a different test skate session, later than the Russian based skaters. It's possible S/K will have that, especially as a couple of weeks ago they still did not have their FD music chosen...

Whyyyyyyyyyyy is Liza ALWAYS in black???? Would it not be possible, if she or her coach insists on this, to at least have some splash of color somewhere? Just a little dot of red or green?

On her training outfits - why? Besides, don't mention "green" in connection with Liza - it brings back bad memories.... (shudder) I'd rather see her in black for evermore (note: black is by no stretch of the imagination my favourite colour ;) ), than ever see That Green Thing back again.... (shudders some more)

I mean, it is everything. I have never seen a skater shrouded in so much black for so many seasons in a row. I have never seen a skater with so many black training costumes. Most at least sometimes have a white or pink or blue top here or there. To me it is just totally over the top.

And I actually liked her green dress, I just felt it was a bit mature for her at that age. I wish to god she'd bring it out again over this constant parade of black over and over.

She actually has really striking coloring which is part of why this is a pity. She'd look great in green or red, for sure, and could also pull off orange, blue, purple, even pink depending on the shades of those colors. I can only assume they keep her in black because they think it is slimming. It is slimming, and I can understand them avoiding really bright neon colors, but it's not like she'd look like a giant blob of doom in a nice, deep green or purple or blue. She would look fine, young, healthy, colorful!

I have to say, among all Russian ladies, Yulia has been dressed well the most. :) Look at all the ladies, I mean, Adelina's costumes always leave me nightmare, the way Mishin let Liza dress is atrocity (seriously, Mishin, I love you very much but Liza is not Plushy!), Anna Pogo is a head case in term of costumes, Radionova put herself in neon and gymnastic costumes...:scowl:

I agree actually. and not just because I like Yulia.

Yes. In the end her clothing is her final decision and imo she wants those black costumes.
She's been conscious about her weight and I could imagine that one who feels like that is more comfortable in black than in tight orange bodysuits.
I think she should feel good in her costumes, she surely needs some self confidence now, otherwise her skating will suffer.

So Lizas costumes are bad because they're black, and Elenas are bad because they're too colorful?

Shoot me, but I love Elenas bright dresses. This girl has way to much energy to waste it on boring greys or such :p
(Although I don't always like how much fake skin you can see, but oh well...)

I agree it is or should be her decision what she wears at least in practice, though I don't have to like it. I am not convinced this is her decision and not her coaches.

I don't know why you would assume she's been conscious about her weight, or more conscious than any figure skater is. Do you know her personally?

With that said, I am not necessarily advocating that she does put on an orange bodysuit. As I said a few posts ago, a subtle splash of color would at least be SOMETHING, such as she did when here and here http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww190/Yunamao/4 Figure skating/liza.jpg and here https://www.google.com/search?q=liz...rums.com%2Findex.php%3Ftopic%3D4752.0;951;536 and here http://www.ifsmagazine.com/system/i...Sotnikova_-Tuktamisheva_-Zawadzki-a_span7.jpg

Recently though she has been in all black, including black tights. I don't think it's good for her image or actually for her confidence to feel like she has to wear all black all the time to look slimmer. She should have people around her assuring her she will look good in any color. Of course I don't know her personally either and maybe she does and this is all wholly her choice. In that case, so be it, but I do think too that judging is partly on appearance and that to wear so much black isn't helping her any, even if it's not hurting either.

The Russians need to take some fashion cues from the Koreans. Ditch the neon, sequins, and tattered fabrics.

She said in a recent interview that she's been "eating less/dieting/not eating"(kinda lost in translation) You can look it up in the Liza thread.
And there was a german article about her where she says that she believes her jumping problems were worsened and partly due to her weight gain and that she believes an athlete should have a certain body and that she felt hers wasn't like she'd wanted it to be.
Pretty self critical. ...
Of course I don't know her personally although that would be nice

I agree with you about Elena. I like her bright colors, it suits her.
I am a bit bored with Liza's black tbh. I think pastels would be great on her, and I completely agree with tulosai on this issue.

Amen to that.

Radionova looks junior-ish in her last season's costumes but it's fine because she was still junior. She might need more mature or classy costumes when she moves to senior I suppose. Personally I love her very much. I hope she will have remarkable costumes.

I really liked Radionova's costumes last season, I think they fit the music very well, but I guess I would say that no matter what, being a hardcore fan of hers.

Same here Meoima! Elena and Yulia both should get awesome costumes this season, I need October and I need it now :rolleye:

I understand that, but I don't think she should change that radically now, because she might "need" to look more "mature", whatever that means.

Using bright colors can be fun and beautiful. It's the matching, or lack of taste (not the right word but you know what I mean) for colors, that kill most of them.
