Sasha Cohen book out March 29

Joe I think the other competitions have been disected and analyzed to death by now. So, until Worlds what else is there to discuss? It's not like we have Nancy to put her foot in her mouth (though Sasha tries literally with the BC ;) ),Oksana/Pasha to steal someone's husband, or anthing else juicy to dwell on. Heck, the Oscars were even pretty tame and uneventful.

Controversial? Not at all! Just typical Sasha. Remember, she was the one who said about the 2002 Nationals "bumping" incident, that when she is on the ice she thinks only about what she is doing, not about everyone else. She's the same way about getting onto the ice first. Other skaters exist only peripherally in Sasha's world.

That's very close to what Michelle said about her own "bumping incident," (and that was the real collision!) with Irena. I strongly suspect that concentrating on their own thing during practice is a modus operandi for all skaters, that's why we see different kind of "close calls" almost in every warm-up session.

I don't think even my wet noodle will work here. If all anyone can do now is trash people, etc. why not just shutup and either stay on the subject or discontinue this topic. :agree:

Now you did it!

Uh oh, now you did it! Tee'd off Ggranny! Woe unto you...

You obviously have problems understanding the main thrust of my last post.

Here is your original quote I was referring to:

You asked Piel not to pick on Sasha, even though the comment he/she made was related to the original thread (ie Sasha's upcoming book). Then further down the same thread, you do exactly the same thing you asked Piel not to do -- pick on a skater. You not only dissed Michelle, but her fans. What gives you the right to bash a skater when you are asking someone else not to do the same thing? Is that not hypocritical and two-faced? Besides, Piel's remark was made in the tongue-in-cheek vein, there was a smilie at the end of the comment, and it was related to the thread. On the other hand, your comment about how Kwanatics are secretly in denial and how the Kween is passe and over-the-hill, was vindictive and uncalled for. And, it wasn't even related to the thread (ie Sasha's upcoming book).

I have never asked anyone not to bash a skater; if he/she wants to do so, it's none of my business. If you read my post carefully, I said your comments were a ridiculously pathetic attempt at trolling. Notice that I didn't ask you not to bash a skater or her fans. There is a big difference.

Also, my last post has nothing to do with how I treat Sasha, or any other of the US skaters going into Worlds. My remarks about Sasha's falls at the last three Nationals were made in reference to your comment about how Michelle is passe and over-the-hill. If Michelle was really that bad, then Sasha would have beaten her easily. IIRC, not a single judge has placed Sasha ahead of Michelle in the LP for the past three years at Nationals.

Oh and btw, if you disagree with me, then at least have the courtesy to elaborate on the reasons, instead of responding with an irrelevant post -- using capital letters and repetitive smilies does nothing to explain why you disagree with me, it only shows how childish and immature you really are.

Like I said in my previous thread "You guys can give it but can't take". Everytime Sasha's name comes up, there are people who can't wait to jump on the band wagon to bash her. When I critized Michelle, I was trying to prove a point, and my point was proven: that you can say what you like about skaters you don't like, but when somebody disses your favourite, you can't take it. Thats why I said the things about Michelle even though I didn't mean them. Just to prove a point. ;) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Maybe you should add a  so people won't be confused and think you are gloating over her fininshing off of the podium.

Really now. Just like people may take your "splat, splat, splat" comments about Sasha for gloating?

Though I know you'd never dream of trying to diminish the input of our "reigning queen of skating" in such manner.

Maybe you should get your facts right before you make accusations about others. Who told you that Michelle is my favorite skater? I didn't. I would have responded in the same way had you chosen to bash Irina, Sarah or Shizuka, or any other ladies skater. FACT: I am a neither a Sasha basher, nor am I a Kwanatic. I am a non-fan, just like many other posters on this forum. If you are referring to what I said about Sasha at US Nationals, then you need to read my post again. FACT: Sasha fell in her LPs at 2003, 2004 and 2005 Nationals and therefore didn't beat Michelle for the Ladies title. My comment about Sasha being compared to the US Nationals Ice Zamboni Machine is conditional, it would only be true IF Michelle was considered passe and over-the-hill, as YOU suggested.

Also, your comment about saying nasty things about Michelle even though you don't mean them, doesn't make any sense. If you didn't mean them, then why say them in the first place? What are you doing it for, out of sheer, twisted spite? If so, then you need to seek psychiatric help. Or maybe it was just to pick a fight with Kwanatics? That's trolling. Again, I didn't ask you NOT to troll, I just observed that your attempt to troll was ridiculously pathetic.

I don't particulaly like or dislike any skaters, so your comment about proving your point is null and void. Your point can only be proven IF I have a favorite skater, he/she is bashed, and I choose to retaliate. Like I mentioned earlier in this post, I am a NON-FAN. Get it?

If anything, it only shows that you can't take what you dish out. It's OK for you to say diss Michelle (whom you may or may not like), but when Piel so much as makes a joke about Sasha (whom you probably like), you jump to her defence immediately. If you don't want anyone to bash skaters you like, then don't do the same thing.

Another non-fan :sheesh: .

For all the non-fans, there is sure a lot of passion when a skater gets dissed.

Stating the FACT that Sasha usually falls in the LP is not bashing. It is a FACT of her technical performance. It is noted in the CoP scores when she falls so are her scores considered bashing? If you expect folks to go gaga over her tricks you are going to have to also tolerate her mistakes being pointed out. I hope she does well I just hope Kwan and Kirk do better. As a fan and not their parent I am allowed to have my favorites :) .

ITA Piel. :agree: Funny how saying Michelle is passe and over-the-hill is not considered bashing, but pointing out Sasha's falls is. Oh well, as the saying goes, "there are none so deaf as those who do not wish to listen". ;)

Good idea, since it's obvious that you have neither the aptitude to defend your own arguments, nor the ability to add any constructive comments to the thread. :sheesh:

Why is it that figure skating that wants so badly to be taken seriously as a sport insists on the fans being so genteel? Until coming to the message boards I had never heard of bashing. No one has ever accused my bumper sticker that says "I am for WVU and anyone playing Pitt" as Pitt bashing.

Piel said:
I think a lot of you guys take this waaaaaay too seriously. Skaters are athletes/entertainers not your brother, sister, child, or best friend.
Now, Piel, that's just totally ridiculous. Michelle is my sister, my daughter (well, OK, maybe my granddaughter) and my best friend.

BTW and OT, if anyone wants to join in on the Michelle bashing, there is a whole thread (5 pages long so far) in the World's folder under 2004-2005 season, titled, "Why Michelle won't win Worlds." Come on in, y'all -- take your best shot! Me and Michelle can handle it! We're rubber, you're glue!! :p

Mathman

Are you telling me that while I've been busy not bashing Sasha, the Kween's honor is at stake in another thread? I tell you that's how these Sasha fans work they lure us over to a Sasha thread and while we're there they attack the Kween elswhere    !

But don't you notice that so called "passion" comes out only when certain fans insist on being negative? Or when there's a misunderstanding? I think what the fans don't quite understand is that being a non-fan doesn't mean you can't be passionate. Non-fan only means that you don't particularly LIKE a skater. That's all. So the only difference is that the passion doesn't come from a bias!

As a Mod, I would love to just zap any thread concerning Michelle or Sasha. Those threads serve no purpose in discussion beyond one's immediate comments.

Wake up. The Worlds are coming soon to your neighborhood TV set. It's possible that neither MK nor SC will be in the last 6 to skate the LP. It could be Irina, Joannie and Susanna battling it out for the podium along with 3 Japanese Ladies. Why not?

Wow, if that actually happened...that would be one big

Seriously, on that topic, I think MK's at least going to be in the top six. Come on- even I will give her that much credit. Then again, they all have to show up and skate.

Golly. All this and not a single Rgirl post, unless you count this one.;)

Don't worry, this will be the only one in this thread.

It's the pre-Worlds doldrums and, as many others have noted before me, thread subjects tend to get rather thin. If anyone likes a thick one, try the most recent entries in the following thread of rubber and glue.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain talking COP in the previously noted thread if threads about the COP gives you hives. There are also posts in the thread about why figure skating has lost popularity, why judges give good scores to poor performances, and other juicy stuff, including rubber and glue. (No, not that kind of rubber.:rolleye: Glue with that would hurt!

Byeeee!
