Sasha. Comeback. Believe it.

IMO Sasha wants another Grand Prix event. Also IMO it's possible Yu-Na and Mao will not both be assigned to Paris. Going further in your post, a fit Sasha, who has been training with Arutunian and has well-choreographed programs, could beat Elene G., who cannot get through a free stamina-wise; the talented but not-as-graceful Leonova, who may not get high PCS; and Lepisto, who does not have a full complement of triples. Certainly placing third, let's say, at Bompard is a more-than-respectable "comeback" after three years away. Even fourth is not an utter disaster, depending on who else is there.

I'm a bit amazed, also, by naysayers who feel Sasha cannot do well at U.S. nationals. Czisny won in '09 with a clean short, featuring a triple Lutz/double toe; lovely spins and spirals; nice choreo. She had a free with three clean triples and fall deductions. There's nothing there, that Sasha cannot do. Not saying she will do it, or she will remain injury-free, but certainly she CAN do it. It is up to the younger skaters to step it up and beat her with clean jumps and higher TES.

I'm completely guessing (and making it up!)...

OK, speaking of making it up, I have one more hare-brained conspiracy theory, then I am going to retire.

Until I come back. :)

Maybe the USFSA is so far ahead of us marketing-wise, that we are eating their dust and don't even know it. Maybe they have known all along that both Sasha and Michelle were coming back. But if they waited until May 30 to make the announcement, the two skaters would steal each other's thunder.

So instead, let's leak Sasha's announcement two weeks ahead of time and cash in on two weeks worth of Internet flurry. Then just when that is starting to die down we can spring Michelle on them and keep it going for another two weeks.

Quick...let me call Oliver Stone...this would make a great movie and the conspiracy topic is right up his alley!!!

in clarification to mine, sasha claims tenditis already, which is overuse of tendons by doing the same thing over/over example skating.
sasha is a competitior and a professional (so to speak) staying in skating and receiving money in other words > Her job.

When i overused my tendons, i couldnt come and claim at work , or they hurt so i won't work or cut back. I had to fill my quota, in other words , I had to keep up my excellent quoto and work. (otherwise it would affect my paycheck/promotion/ job. When I had neck and back pain, i had to work through it.
My co-workers would not appreciate picking up my slack at work for back, neck, pinch nerve, tenditis. I had to fulfill my obiligation at work by doing my own work and not letting other people pick up. They don't feel sorry for you because of back injury, tenditis when they can claim the same injury and they work through it.

Funny how Sasha injuries are okay to spread and feel sorry for but not caroline's (her what every she claimed this year) and not michelle's in years past.
Sasha is an elite skater , as such she knows these types of injuries comes with the job. so if she is really hurt and she claims she should quit /and or go see a doctor and not use it as an excuse for not skating well.

See they worked behind the scenes for sasha the past 3 years and not allowed the younger skaters to get ahead so they can put her on the Olympic team without going to nationals. if they got her two gp events, they already have on the team and in fairness to the other skaters, they should say so.
But not saying anything and answering me back. they essentially are agreeing with this position. Sasha already on the olympic team at the expense of a younger skater.
one thing they allowed michelle to get ***** about in 2006. Sasha isn't allowed any negative publicity. unfair and discrimantory

also by stating ahead of time that she (sasha) gets two gp events, means they are catering to her and will give her what she wants.
in 2007 she/ usfsa stated they would glady put her on the olympic team.
sasha states she wants two gp (arrogance on her part in my opinion) , she gets it,
she wants on the olympic team,.
who to stop her when david raith stated she basically has two gp, and 2007 she is probably on the team. so it doesn't take much to assume she has guaranteed herself a spot on the olympic team, with the usfsa blessing.
But what does it do for the younger skaters in 2014, what does it tell them. they wasn't good enough without sasha, they wouldn't be good enough than maybe.
by purposely keeping them down, and building sasha up as their only medal hope, what are they really telling the other federations in relation to the next olympics as far as the younger skaters. We can sacrifice them now, and maybe they might be sacrificed later? who knows, but their might be more fallout than expected with the so-called sasha comeback, with them cheating for her. (sorry low blow)_but they are bending the rules now, they did back than, what to stop them at nationals.

Who said Sasha 'isn't allowed' to get any negative publicity? I never realized Sasha had that kind of power over the press. And who says there is some kind of blanket approval about any injury claim Cohen has made and none for Kwan??

Much ado about nothing. :rolleye:jmo

Regardless of our theories with the ISU. (Do you think the USFS will pay Speedy a tip to get Sasha a 2nd GP?) Sasha would have to skate a 2nd GP before SA. I doubt the Canadians will want her against Joannie. JMO.

So Sasha's comeback has to be on foreign territory if she gets a 2nd GP.

However, none of this is so important as defending her silver medal in the Olys.

The USFS is completely in control of who it wants to send to the Oly. The USFS can name 2 skaters. Sasha could be one of them.

I think that's correct unless the USFS can send 3 skaters based on results of 2006 Olys.

Bingo. Unless Sasha self-destructs at her GP event and/or Nationals or she withdraws because of an injury, she will be on the Olympic team.

What reality is this based in? None that I'm familiar with.

If Sasha goes to the Olympics without skating at Nationals I'll pay you 1 million US dollars.

What do you mean by self-destructs? What if she places 3rd at each? You seem to be suggesting that she'll get to go to the Olympics whether she earns it or not.

What you are suggesting that I suggested is wrong.

What if Sasha only gets one GP spot and Rachael beats her at Skate America. Then, Rachael/Caroline both make GPF, and Caroline beats Rachael there?

What are they going to do then.

Or, Sasha gets two GP spots, and Caroline and Rachael do better at the GP than Sasha does?

In any of those cases, I think they will send the top two at U.S. Nationals to the Olympics.

I'll chip in. Sasha never said she's coming back to save the sport nor she took 2 gp assignments for granted. She asked for a spot at SA (not Olympic team), and she's gracious she got it, which is why she posted on her website herself.
Michelle was offered a spot as well for which she didn't even have to ask. I don't see anyone protesting.

All the frantic wild speculation and paranoid conspiracy theories about things which will never happen... it's almost amusing. Hey you can relax guys, just pray that you are right so you can cash in on your million dollars.

I still feel that Sasha's LP in 2006 is, artistically, the best LP we've seen from a female skater under CoP.

I wish her the best if she returns, although I certainly doubt that an Olympic Gold is in the cards.
