It’s frustrating to have to withdraw from Skate America but I have to keep my eye on the bigger picture.

Interesting (but not surprising) that she's going to watch the competition on TV. I wonder if the skaters always watch each other (on TV) if they can't make it to the actual event?

For once she is listening to her body and not risking FURTHER injury. It's amazing how quickly a small injury can blossom into a larger one. In an Olympic year, the stakes are just too high.

???Who are you boasting to? Everybody knew (and said) that. She had to withdraw from Skate America because she was injured and did not want to risk aggrevating it.

They only dissenting voices were those of a few cynical fans who did not believe this and thought that Sasha was faking it. They will still believe this, no matter what Sasha says.

BTW, Sasha says she will be watching the skaters on TV this week. I assume she means next week, when it will be televised, LOL.

Oh, so it is. Sunday, Oct. 23, 1-3. If they showed all of the Grand Prix events on a next day basis, to me, that would be the best thing possible for reviving interest in the series. :agree:

RD, you're right. ABC is showing the Ladies competition Sunday afternoon. I gotta remember to program my vcr so I'll get it, since I won't be home yet.

I believe they are spreading the coverage over a two-week period. So ladies this Sunday, pairs/exhibition next Sunday.

Actually, from the schedule it sounds as if they are going to show the ladies short this time around! (with Cohen out of it though, I don't know if the networks will scrap that idea.)

so why should she malinger? Though I do believe at that elite level, you can get the doctor to say anything. $$$ and fame talks. Who wrote out all those pain scripts for Rush Limbaugh. I know doctors and many can be bought though she is IMO genuinely in pain/injured.

Hey, hey. I'm going by what SHE said! I didn't say that what she said was TRUE, I said that HER words confirmed by BELIEFS about WHY she did it. A bit of a difference (I think)

Unfortunately, a LOT of skaters have been doing this sort of thing, through time. Soviet coaches used to ask their skaters to 'fake' injury or illness at the time of Nationals or Euros just to keep programs a secret for Olys and Worlds (or to make "space" for a junior skater to get exposure). That's not to say that this year's injured skaters (Kwan, Cohen, etc.) aren't truly injured to some degree or another. Let's just say that, as sad as it is to not be able to skate early-on in the season, it suits a certain purpose. :yes:

Soviet coaches definitely know how to play politics in skating, not only for competitions, and also make each practice session a competition. They brought them to US.

OMG, LOL, the first thing I thougt when I read her entry was: "no next week. these skaters have noooooooooo idea how much we fans suffer just waiting around to see them compete!"
