I don't even know there is an Asian (Winter?) Game this year till I saw this thread. Even 4cc has not been an exciting event, with top skaters (e.g., Ashley) skipping the game. The real loss may be the chance to skate at the Olympic venue to know the ice.

I guess it's between a rock and hard place...do you risk losing condition for Worlds for the chance to skate on Olympic ice?
The thing is, if you screw up at Worlds, you may not even make it to the Olympics (you may not make it anyway, but for countries with 2/3 spots, I guess the pressure to keep/increasing spots is huge).

She's made the right choice for herself imo, as for not experiencing the ice before next year's Olympics, most skaters won't til they get to South Korea themselves.

the timing sounds similar to last year's yuzu, who ended up pushing himself way too hard before worlds. maybe withdraw from 4cc and get some rest is a good thing for her (if she can make worlds on time)

And I remember Yuzuru fought for three spots for Sochi Olympics with both legs being injured in Worlds. I really hope the same thing won't happen to Satoko. (I believe it won't)

We need you Satoko!! BUT I don' want her to feel much pressure from us or the media. I'm just praying for her and looking forward to seeing her in Worlds.

I'm not a specialist but hip stress fracture sounds a bit more serious and complicated than ankle or foot injuries. Correct me if I'm wrong. However, according to the latest news, Satoko was diagnosed about 3 weeks ago and is scheduled to return to full practice in 10 days. She has been limiting her practice time and avoiding jumps as much as possible. Symptoms showed up at the GPF and the press says she competed at GPF and Nationals in pain - which, looking back seems incredible seeing as she got personal best scores and skated the most solid programs of the season. Withdrawing from 4CC and AG was her own decision and it was a very mature and reasonable decision. I know how much she wanted to go to 4CC in South Korea. There's still time for her to recover.

I wish Satoko speedy recovery. The fact that they mentioned that she could have pushed to start in 4CC suggests that she should be ready for Worlds.

Seems the most important now is that their team get identify the cause of the fracture and fix it if it is possible, otherwise she will relapse.
