Satoko Miyahara

I'm very happy for her that she got a medal. At the same time, considering how things played out after she skated, it's probably going to haunt her that she might just have been able to be World Champion had she held it together more.

But all the same, a podium is a podium.

With the URs she got I am not so sure a win would have been in the cards and she was already behind her PB after the SP. But a silver was definitely possible.

Congratulations to Satoko for winning the Bronze Medal. After she skated and came in third I did not think
she was gong to medal, but ice is slippery.

It annoyed me that Olympic channel commentator (Ryan Bradley??) saying that Satoko did not have much of a chance of holding her 3rd place because she does not have larger jumps. I think that she has great chance for medal if she skates clean in LP.

I really dislike his commenting. Sometimes I think he just likes to hear himself talk whether it is relevant to
a skater or not, he just babbles on. I think I know more about figure skating than he does. lol

Now Jackie is saying Bradie should have got the bronze? Jumped over Carolina, Alina and Sotoko? I thought her score was generous, don't understand the hype around Bradie.

Love Jackie but I find he is a little biased towards US skaters nothing wrong with that but
I take it with a grain of salt. Bradie was not under scored anyone with eyes could see that
and her PC's were about right.

She did a good job and her placement was correct.

The responding tweets with a pretty resounding NO to that opinion were pure comedy for me though.:laugh::laugh: It was nice to see a lot of people come to her defense.

The pictures and fanarts have already begun!

Congrats Satoko!! Two times world medalist after brilliant Olympics (she might not medal there but two personal bests performances that really wowed the crowds) are wonderfully remarkable results after her devastating injuries. Sad that some still toss your achievements aside no matter how great you've delivered, what but guess cannot control that

Not easy to keep focused after such an important competition as Olympic. I would guess those olympians really gave their all mentally and physically for the biggest sport event that only comes once every four years. It's crazy to see the skating juggernauts like Alina, Caro crumbled like that. It's like it became a competition on whichj of these olympians could hold on their focus and energy for one last competition before the end of a very tiring, nerve wracking, demanding Olympic season.

It's also show how tough our tiny queen is. It's not an ideal situation but I never ever thought tiny queen, who was forced off ice for almost 11 months earlier this season, who just returning to very limited jump practice last October could beat Alina the Olympics gold medalist(i am not hating please). :eeking: But she performed much better and deserved her podium:agree:

Congrats Satoko!! Now enjoy the break and ice shows. You've achieved so much when a lot have expressed doubts on you. You did wonderful performances that were truly memorable for the audience at thw Olympic and you claimed that 2nd world medals. No matter how some might ignore or downplay your achievements, what you've done were undeniably awesome. So proud of tiny queen

On the super awesome note: we are going to see her exhibition again righg? Super excited to see her in that beautiful (magnificent) costume and Wonderful program again.

No offense all, and no ill intention to paint any oarty in bad light whatsoever. This is just My personal observation as casual fans who might not know the nitty gritty details but enjoys figure skating nonetheless. Apologies if this offended anyone, truly not my intention.

i have no idea why my post was removed (it said i shared some link against GS policy or sth when all i did was quote Danibellerika, now i suspect you are a spy or sth  but those pictures and fan art were cute! (and now that i think about it, there might be some kind of secret data behind the photos which caused my post to be removed )

1st, i would like to appreciate how she answered everything except for 1 question in English (and she was so cute when she said she would answer in Japanese, can you guess who that reminded me of?), i am the guy who took the mic, said her English is very good and thats all he had to say and dropped it

now onto the performance, it wasnt the way she wanted to finish her season but she never let go off the performance and never stayed behind the music after the fall (her 3S is cursed this season even though he has been using that entry since last season?), i will miss her programs, esp the SP which i think deserves the highest TR mark, i know Alina got tons of transitions but for me Satoko has the best balance between quality and quantitiy (there, i said it! :slink:), now cant wait for the best EX of the season!!

I saw her performance on my TV she is really a beautiful skater on the ice we forget the mistakes, I was a little afraid for the fall and the pop but she can be proud of what she accomplished, it's a good source of inspiration. I will miss her programs, and look forward to seeing her for the gala.
I read that it plans to make a 3A 0_0 the typos will be realized XD

It might have been because the link to the tweet was copied from another skating forum that is on this forum's black list (ie: FSU, and Planet Hanyu, etc.). I'm a little surprised it let me post it at all in that case.

I wasn’t able to watch Satoko’s skate just yet, but I’m relieved that my main wish came true: to see Satoko on the podium. Her performance had mistakes, but nevertheless she was one of the better ones out there and completely deserved that medal. I hope she takes it easy now during this resting period.

I'm very happy to see the tiny queen added another bronze to her resume after what I thought to be a career ending injury :drama:. It's not figure skating related, but every day, I'm surrounded by the "talent", "charisma" fixation BS, and then we have the regal, but unassuming queen proving the critics wrong with her exquisite skates which were gained after tireless hard work, not from the sky .

I just saw his EX he is divine,
it's sad that we will not see these programs again

there was a video where we saw Satoko and Wakaba hugging each other in tears, that must be the video of Yude talking about the state of the Japanese ladies 2017/2018;
Satoko is is incredible person supporting his comrades.

Oh tell me more about transitions. Eteri’s girls have loads of TR but i have always been hard pressed to be impressed by the quality as they tend to be more TR for the sake of TR thrown the kitchen sink approach. Now in Satoko’s case, much like CaroK, the TR are of much higher quality and of meaning. If anything, I think Satoko deserves the highest marks for interpretation in the components.

Now Jackie is saying Bradie should have got the bronze? Jumped over Carolina, Alina and Sotoko? I thought her score was generous, don't understand the hype around Bradie.

Probably nationalistic bias. There is no way that Bradie’s stiff carriage and bland interpretation deserves anything close to what Satoko should get PCS wise. And don’t even get me started on basic SS which Japanese girls tend to be relatively strong while US girls tend to be pretty meh with (Gold and MKwan excepting of course). But I think a lot of responders to his tweet gave a pretty strong resounding no way.

Happy Birthday Satton!! I have written quite a lengthy post in the other thread so I Would not bore you folks by repeating it here :biggrin: :agree:, but the most important thing is, hope she continues to enjoy her journey and keep herself healthy and motivated without listening to the haters and naysayers. Hope she can find the best balance to optimize her training and the benefits now that she has the chance and time (with the off season finally starting) to fully utilize her strength and skills. Congratulations for a great comeback despite the limitations that you might have to endure :yahoo:

Since she will be doing ice shows, I really wish she and Yuzu will collaborate. Both their programs have Japanese theme (and wonderful programs they were :luv17: ), sometimes I wish they would collaborate in a program inspired by another Japanese music or traditional folklore. :luv17: Will be awesome to see combination of powerful and graceful poetic skatings from both of them.

pardon my imagination :o: but definitely hope for their collaboration one day :hap85: (just remembered, didn't Mao and Daisuke collaborate once for the Christmas on Ice back in 2014? )
