Satoko Miyahara

Me too, to be honest. Talking about her jumps is like walking on eggshells around here. :drama:

Honestly? Does it really matter if some people get hung up on her constantly improving jumps? She has among the best skills in between jumps and great interpretation skills. Not every skater is the same. Don't expect her to jump like Midori. I don't feel the need to constantly being apologetic about her or nervous about reactions. I - we - are her fans and we love what she brings to the table and we can see how hard she works on herself, others will too. Eventually. :)

I couldn't watch Satoko's performance last night because I was :angry1: with the bad streaming. :hslap: But I'm happy to hear that Satoko performed, yet, another beautiful FS last night! May she now take this time to rest and recover, so she can come back even stronger next season. I can't wait to see what her next set of programs will be!

To me as a fan it doesn't matter at all but whenever her jumps get mentioned in another thread, the next dozen of pages are usually dedicated to her prerotations and whatnot.

High quality video of Satoko's last performance of Un Sospiro.

Her 6th clean FS this season. NHK, GPF, Nationals, 4CC, Worlds and finally TCC. When Satoko gets off the ice I can hear coach Hamada congratulating her for her work. I'm thankful for her beautiful, calming presence on the ice. Excited for next season.

The video got blocked, unfortunately. That sucks, because their other videos haven't been blocked for some reason.

Regardless, I'm so happy for Satoko for her PB, even if it didn't count :P Six clean competitions in a row! That's really impressive.

Edit: Fun story, which I think I mentioned earlier, but I watched Satoko debut her Un Sospiro FS this past summer at an ice show, and she actually fell three times :drama: I was so worried about this coming season, but the fact that she went from having a splat-fest to 6 clean competitions is incredible!

That was probably Mao's show. Looking back at it, there have been some changes in the choreo but whatever jumping problems she had that day, she left them right there. She only fell once this season (at Skate America) and never popped anything.

She tends to debut her new free programs at Mao's show, first she skated Miss Saigon at THE ICE 2014 and Un Sospiro at THE ICE 2015. Depending on her schedule, she may debut her SP at Dreams On Ice (July 1st) or later at Friends On Ice (late August).

Yup, it was Mao's The ICE show in Osaka. It was pretty shocking to see her fall more than once since Satoko never falls. But I watched her FS again at 2016 Worlds where she skated perfectly.

Shoma introduced Satoko in the gala and looked like he would rather be anywhere else. It was LOL.

Rusty: "take it away, Shoma!"

Shoma: (Long pause) "Miyahara Satoko-San."

Yeah, her consistency is really impressive. I confess I had some bitter feelings with judging about her especially at Worlds and sometimes it was hard to see her. But seeing her this time, I really knew that she always keeps doing what she should do without any word. She's a great lady. Further, It seems she gets beautiful from some moments during her performance! A bit of tears came to my eyes.
Go Satoko! Keep working! Your flower shall bloom bigger in the future!:hap10:

Haha his introduction at Skate America was better.

She only usually does Dreams on Ice, THE ICE and possibly Friends on Ice. I don't remember ever seeing her at Fantasy on Ice or Prince Ice World.

There's a saying where I am from "What does the moon care, when the dogs are barking at her"

Haha, those two are awesome

Saw a Japanese fan tweeting "sorry but they kind of look like a couple" and various others agreeing :rofl2:

Satoko said she plans on introducing a 3-3 combination in the second half of her free skate next season. There might be a 3-3 at the beginning and a 3-3 in the second half.

She couldn't have stayed with the current layout forever. It was a temporary layout to allow her to get her 3-3 rotated. She has to start showing some big tricks to compete with the Russians.

Yah I know, she definitely needs 3-3, I am glad , hopefully she will continue to work with Kulik this summer :agree:
