Here's the thing. We know she has been practicing the 3A for quite some time now. She said she needs it to be fully competitive and with the Olympics basically around the corner now is the time to start testing it. The truth is that so far she has to rely on other skaters making mistakes for her to win a medal. Finishing 5th at Worlds with better performances than the ones she won silver with a year before must have been frustrating for sure. Another thing is that her consistency basically lacks excitement for people who aren't her fans; it's a paradox but her skating clean programs every time kind of bores people. That's the impression I've gotten over the past season. Not to mention them being annoyed with the double 2A-3T combo (which has fortunately disappeared this season).
Now we don't know when she's going to do it but I'm all for her doing it. She should start risking. Without a certain success rate in practice, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have talked about introducing it in her programs. She's the most level headed skater when it comes to these things and her team has known how to speculate the code of points so far.
Taking a look at her layouts
SP last season: 3Lz-3T / 3F, 2A
SP this season: 2A / 3Lz-3T, 3F
The placing of the 2A this season looks like it's waiting to become a 3A. (The placing of the 3F, however, is giving me the chills)
FS last season: 3Lz-2T-2Lo(rippon), 3Lo, 3F / 3Lz, 2A-3T, 3S, 2A-3T
FS this season: 3Lo, 3Lz-3T, 3F / 3Lz-2T-2Lo(rippon), 2A-3T, 3S, 2A | Alternative: 3Lo, 3Lz-2T-2Lo(rippon), 3F / 3Lz-3T, 2A, 3S, 2A-3T
The placing of the 3Lo as the opening jump also looks like it could be a 3A in the future, although I see it happening in the SP rather than the FS.
Satoko will compete this weekend so we will see which layouts she's going to choose. Her talks about the 3A have been vague all this time so we don't know when to expect it.
PS: Sam, you don't have to delete your posts. We come in peace.

This thread could use more life and discussions after all.
