True, after watching it I was like "Is the 2Lo not fully rotated?", because otherwise, everything looked clean. And I remember how strick the judges were on the UR last year, I doubt it has changed this year.

I'm normally easy to please when it comes to costumes, but I admit that this one is puzzling. I mean, I know the top with the colors is supposed to form a heart, but it could have been done better...
I like the skirt, tho.
 
I didnt know dress had story behind it, the heart shape and all:laugh: when she first showed her program i really loved that dress, it was soft and flowy , i understand if they wanted to use another color so she wouldnt fade away on the ice and i like the new color and top of the dress but i think skirt is too fluffy:biggrin: but who am i to judge The Tiny Queen :love: cant wait for the gala and will keep my hopes up to see her and Yuzuru do sth together :hap85:
 
Miyahara outshines Asada to remain champion

As for the presentation, Miyahara commented after the short program that for the free skate she would like to "invite the audience to the world I create, and make them enjoy with my skating." Judging by the audience, who were watching quietly and attentively during her "Un Sospiro" program but then burst into standing ovation when the last note ended, she acheived her goal successfully.

"When I do my run-throughs during daily practice, I always try to skate as clean as possible," Miyahara said. "I think the way I train helped my consistency and the good results I have achieved this year have come with it. This win helped improve my confidence."

"I still have something to do with my program, and I cannot be at ease," she said. "There is the Four Continents [Championships] and worlds waiting for me. In order to compete against the best skaters in the world, I need to train hard to solve the problems I have, and I want to bring more confidence and improve my presentation."

Satoko is a scary competitor :laugh: She's got nerves of steel and a non-stop work ethic. Wishing her the best at 4CC and Worlds, and I hope she continues this upwards momentum
 
Congratulations for defending your title, Satoko! As for the FS dress, I don't have a big problem with it. Actually, I'm okay with any dress that does not look completely hideous or overdone. While Satoko's dress may have some problems, it still gets the job done for me.
 
Stopping by to say that Satoko's interview with Kenji Miyamoto will soon be posted on her tumblr fanblog. But first I want to confirm the fact that she is left handed therefore her left side is her dominant side. She can easily skate, turn and spin in both directions but she naturally started jumping clockwise. Up until now she's been working hard to jump counter clockwise and trying to get more elevation little by little. I think Yamato said they'll eventually get there in a couple of years but she's making baby steps. She is aware she has prerotation and underrotation issues and fixing them is her first priority. Meanwhile, it's not her fault the IJS doesn't "penalize prerotations as it should" and she doesn't get "punished" for her terrible "2.5-2.5" jump combinations. At the end of the day, how many skaters are as consistent as she is? :)

Another cute detail: she is friends with Rika Hongo.

I have a question. Why does she not go back to jumping clockwise if she feels more comfortable doing so?
 
Re. the colour of her LP dress: I remember ppl were complaining about that earlier at the beginning of the season and prefer the light pink one she used during the summer show. My take was that, the light pink one would make her look even more 'junior-ish,' so they change it to the one she's wearing now. But I also agree that the rose pink/magenta one now makes her look old, and then I realized it might turn out to be very difficult to dress Satoko for some reasons (perhaps her team realizes she's tiny so they have to find a way to make her look more mature, which doesn't always work). And another idea just came to me is that, since now she looks more comfortable with the program and is skating with more confidence, plus ppl are noticing her, perhaps it won't be a bad idea for her to change back to the light pink one for the next competition, just to play with the visual affect and perhaps it will make her look more standing out.
 
I watched Satoko perform her FS live during The ICE show this summer in her light pink dress and it looked very lovely! It might've been the nice lighting of the rink, but it was very beautiful and I thought it matched the music very well. I'd have no issues if she returned to that dress. I do like it better than the magenta one she wears now, but I don't mind either :)

I think it's because counter clockwise is the only way jumps are taught in Japan. I haven't seen any other Japanese skater (or Russian for that matter) jumping clockwise. She was still very young when she returned to Japan so they started teaching her to jump counter clockwise straight away. She said she can't jump clockwise anymore anyway.
 
Boom Sports, the official publication of Kansai University, has announced that Satoko will soon be entering Kansai University's Faculty of Letters - the same faculty Tatsuki Machida graduated from back in March.

She has also signed with the same agency as Mao Asada and Kei Nishikori (the tweet doesn't mention it but it's probably IMG).

She may be participating in an exhibition to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Kandai ice arena.
